It's not released on the marketplace or app store yet. We are testing currently with some local racers. I too have been using it as I run the full line of escs from Novak, castle, tekin, sp... It makes life very easy.

Doing those quick changes right before the race ... No problem.

I'll keep you posted.

So Traxxas has some of the best iPhone hardware integration I've ever seen. Why can't you guys do something like this? All I hear from you is blaming Apple for various things, but other people seem to be getting it done. What's the deal?

Speed Passion iPhone/Android integration will be available with their new ESC next year as well. Although I believe they are doing theirs with Bluetooth and WiFi, not charging jack on the phone like Tekin originally tried.

Because they're not passing data back both ways. I'm no expert on their new application but I don't believe you can adjust the car in any way via the Iphone portion of the radio.

It appears to be simply used a screen to display data logging. Am I wrong?

Yes.

It's also used to setup the radio and required to unlock the radio's ability to push the car to the 100+ mph speeds. You will need an iPhone for this car at some point in it's life. I do not think it controls the ESC itself, the tech at Traxxas was less than clear on this himself.

I am not flaming you guys when I say this; Tekin really can improve the software. Spend less time on the high tech looking interface and more time on useful function.

It looks that way at first but I read in one of there adverts about being able to save and load profiles, I can only assume that they can send data back if they can load a previously saved profile.

You are exactly correct.
As it is hard-docked to the Transmitter, all the wireless magic is handled via Transmitter to receiver/data module on the car.

The i-app handles data logging and data storage, which could have all been included in the transmitter, no doubt at a cost.
I misspoke earlier.

+1

I'm not in the market that Traxxas targets .. but you have to admire a company that does what others say can't be done.

Innovation .. love it.

I seems that traxxas is in bed with apple and simply get more programming information and access than others.

Why not Droid instead of Apple?
