Look at my previous posts and you will see my foam carpet setup. The car is plenty strong and if they are stipping bevels, they are shimming or setting the backlash wrong. I stripped one crown gear because I forgot to Loctite the screw. Other than that, I am on the same gears and I run 8x1 and sometimes with a spool. If that isn't hard on the drivetrain, I don't know what is.

I also wrote an explanation of how to shim properly. Just search the previous posts in this thread.

I just lock my diff down and use it like a spool. But I have never seen a delrin spool

Get the Evo III Reinforced Diff and assemble it like you would a normal ball differential but put a piece of sandpaper between the plate and the balls on both side and tighten that puppy up. There's ya delrin Spool!

Or get the white diff... take the diff balls out. Take out the bearings and replace them with bushings. Superglue the bushings and diff rings into place. Super glue the diff gear down to an outdrive. Take out the thrust bearing and spring. Replace them with about 6mm worth of 5.5 shims. Tighten it down all the way. Then superglue the oudrives to the diff gear. There's your spool. Of course F. Alonso's way is easier.. hehe. But this was how it was explained in RC World December 2004 issue by TRF guys. Except they used the normal black outdrives...

I use an xacto blade on my truer and cut them down to around 26.5mm

Seriously, you don't need the extra tire material up front. The Evo4 has never been at a loss for steering. I usually have to dial out a bunch of steering on my car.

I just got my evo 4 ms put together. The first race for the car will be this Sat. I was wondering if anyone has any set-up info for it? I realize that it's a new kit, but there isn't really any setup help in the instructions.

Does the MS come with the same box setup as the regular Evo 4?

Look a few pages back... the sus blocks are a little different.. and some of the rollcenter shims... but the springs and the shock oil is the same

Im buying a friends Evo IV off him, he has that and the 415ms and hes sticking with the 415 for racing modified, i just racing stock 99% of the time, so im going for the evo 4 with a ton of spares. Hes said that the front spool or one way has stripped a few times, im guessing its either because he has it shimmed slightly wrong or just because running modified is so hard on the car. Ill read back a few pages for that shimming guide.
Will tamiya do an upgrade kit to make the standard evo 4 into the MS?
The blue centre Y piece looks like a good improvement over the standard plastic horrible thing. Im guessing it reduces chassis flex?
