950 v 950R
I can get a serpent 950 kit for a good price at the moment but would like to know what the advantages of the 950R are? Im only really a middle of the pack sort of driver so would the extra updates on the 950R not really be needed by me for the extra price?

1. You can set the car to run the narrower track width than 950 !
2. New Front Roll Center. 950, you will have to put the spacer to change the roll center but 950r is using Insert to change to Front RollCenter
3. The 950R 's chassis is narrower than 950
4. Laydown Throttle Servo.
5. New Receiver Position Mounting
6. Wheelbase Adjustable
7. Font Belt tension

So, if you make the front narrower by cutting down the arms, and cut the arms to shorten the wheelbase do they actually perform different. I don't mind adding shims to change roll center.
I have the same problem as bleach1, except I already have a 950 and lots of spare parts.

950R has more width setting range compare to 950. But if you always use default setting, that stuff is no using to you. If you always hit something, the 950 is better to you. Because the 950's front suspension is more strong. Many racers here change back to 950 just because their 950R always crashed. Or change to 950's front suspension block on his 950R. Also some 950 racers change to 950R's front suspension block because they want more width setting range. A fastest racer always get TQ or crash. But it should not be your excuse.

I have heard the same thing about parts breakage on the 950R, very slight contact caused broken parts. I usually don't use all the steering throw anyway. I think I will keep my 950 as is for a while, a least until we have a few weeks of racing.
Thanks,
Ted
