I got both the all the 3 generation of X-ray and the SSG special.
I find that the X-ray is still a better car for mod and the SSG for stock. Y ???

Cause the X-ray is a belt car and is less efficeny than Shaft
and shaft car when running mod motor have a trouqe steer problem but not with belt.

If i got the money i will get both car.
X-ray when running mod and SSG when running stock

And the best advice is see what the top guys at your track are runnning and see if they can let you try out their car and also see your local hobby shop what spare parts they support as that is a very important factor in chossing my car.

I bouoght a used T1...and then bought the Evo2 upgrade from Serpent...it had enouhg parts taht I took the plunge and bought a C-hub kit 2 diffs low ratio pulleys and a center layshaft...

I'll now soon have 2 cars..

there is SOOO much steering available on the Xrays..parts availabilty seems pretty decent too!...

I know of a couple Xrays available here in Canada at some decent prices...

There will be some deals on Evo2's soon since I've heard the Factory kits have shipped...

now may just be the best time to pick up a sweet deal.

From what I've experienced around here, there's no definate reason to go shaft. They might be easier to work on, due to better diff access, but acceleration wise, they aint better than a belt car. Even not on a very tight technically track and with stock motors. And with a shaft car, you'll have to deal with un-even setup from side to side, to avoid torque steer.

There's around 5 Yoke SD's in our club. All of them break A-arms every now and then.

But as somebody else said, parts avaiblity really matter.

The good thing about XRay putting out new versions all the time, is it's quite easy to make a good deal on the previous version.
