Had an awesome race day today testing some things out with Mo. The car is dialed and the Parma alpha is pretty good on the rug. Next weekend's two day carpet race should be very fun. This car is really fun to drive.

I posted this elsewhere but I thought I'd get your opinions as well.

I'm thinking about buying an Mi2 and have a few questions.

What hop-ups would be regarded as essential? I know there is a multitude of alloy parts, different pulleys and other bits for this car, but I don't want to turn it into a million dollar machine

So far I think the RW pulleys, the gear adaptor, and maybe a spool would be essential, but I'm not sure about the other parts.

Many people seem to run Tamiya shocks, do I need to buy other parts to fit them (shocktowers?) and are the standard shocks really a big problem?

cheers,

Bender

I would say the gear adapter and lowered shock towers are the only must have items. With the lowered towers though, you either need to get Tamiya shocks or modify the kit shocks but cutting 2mm off the threaded shafts and 2mm off the ball cups. You can make the spool by removing the diff balls and glueing a header card to the rings and locking it down.

Default spur used by teemu

I was looking at the setup sheet of teemu at the snowbirds.
and i saw that he was using an 97 teeth spur gear.
Is that with the adaptor or an other schumacher spur?

because i thought 95 was the biggest.

I have been running the schuey shocks and they work just fine. They are a little of a pain to put together but once they are done they work just fine. For springs I have been using the losi springs and with the new car coming out you should be able to fine those pretty cheap. I would spend the 60 bucks that you would have used to buy the tamiya shocks and get the aluminum rear hubs. Not a must have but a great tuning option for the car. They really help give the car a little more steering.

Arjen, Teemu runs RW spur gears with the Schumacher gear adaptor.
