He means ( I believe) he is using hpi spring retainers. They are pretty cool, as they have an o-ring on the inside to keep the collars from moving, and they are purple and match the car well. And to top it off they are only $12 bucks for 4 .-Jeff

They are not as loose as the originals.

Has anyone tried running an asphalt car on rubber/carpet using the thicker 'carpet' top deck?
I already use the carpet towers so I can remove the diff risers etc. but was wondering if stiffening up the car would help at all.

I always thought a shock collar was the top and the spring retainer was the bottom.

id guess that just addin the chassis and top deck and shock towers plus havin a spring kit would make it a carpet spec car? lol

I ran the carpet car with a modified carpet top deck and a stock bubber top deck on asphalt. It made the car very quick and reactive, but a little too unforgiving.

Lookin good Jon
There are only a few people I would ever let work or build me a car; Jon is one of them and I would throw this car straight on the track
Anyone looking for a carpet setup http://www.racing-cars.com/images/Te...am_cw_2006.pdf
