That sounds like a neat class! I'd guess your speeds would be very comparable with a 17.5 with 1s battery but without the hassles (and drop-off) we're experiencing with 1s in our 1/12 and WGT cars.

Please keep us up to date on what you're finding as you test!

We are planning on releasing our TeamNovak / USVTA press release to the media Monday, now that most of our program details are on-line and available. We just completed our participating Hobby Dealer information. I will post a link to this PR as soon as we get it added to our home page.

We also plan to add a special section to our web-site where we can post information (and links) about various series and other races (including track info) that are adopting either our new VTA program, or any other cost-controlled events specing similar TeamNovak products.

We invite all series members to join us on Facebook, where we (or you!) can add details about local events. We want to help promote these events making them as fun and exciting as possible. Welcome. Elliott and SCAR!

GREAT NEWS - SCAR 25.5

Test Day Number 1:

The 25.5 Novak / Havoc Motor ESC Combination exceeded my expectations. With the ORION 2400 Rocket Pack LIPO, the CRC GENX10 was very easy to drive (much easier to drive than with the 17.5). Yet the car recorded some 11.4 Second Laps. Lou put me in the first qualifier with the Rubber 17.5 Touring Cars. Project SCAR 25.5's first race resulted in a second place finish (behind Lou's record holding Photon) with a respectable 31 @ 6.05.

Gearing - 34 Pinion / 73 Spur with a 54mm Tire for a 74.5 MMPR Rollout
Temperature - 125 Degrees
Car Weight - 1030 Grams
Body - HPI Honda Prelude
Tires - CRC Spec

Summary of TEST Number 1:

a/ This combination is a HOME RUN!!!!!!! I had Steve Silva and Adam Hutchinson take the car for a drive and they really liked the performance and CONTROL. This combination will result in a significant reduction in tire wear as well as a reduction in initial cost. The Lap Times are about one second a lap slower than the faster SCAR 17.5 Cars with the latest competition speed controls with the best software updates. Performance is very similar to the Rubber 17.5 Touring Cars.

b/ I believe I can improve the performance by making some suspension changes. I have the same setup as I do on my faster SCAR 17.5 Car.

c/ Lou Vanderwey said as long as we have a minimum of 5 SCAR 25.5 / WGT 17.5 Cars we can run as a Class. SCAR 25.5 may well be the ULTIMATE SPEC CLASS and SCAR 25.5 has a Huge, Huge Potential for significant growth. The large selection of great looking HPI 4 Passenger Bodies will make SCAR 25.5 the Best Looking Class on the Grid.

Special THANKS to Novak Electronics for the Test Motor. Get your own Novak 25.5 SS Motor on order soon.

Next TEST - this coming Wednesday - March 3rd at Lou's Speedway. Watch for a Report.

SCAR 25.5 Update:

Project SCAR hit the Track again Wednesday night. SCAR 25.5 is no match for the SCAR 17.5 Cars in Speed so I had to move over to let the faster 17.5 cars by, however I managed to record a 11.2 second lap, 2 tenths quicker than on Saturday. I had Jamie Barrett and Etienne Test Drive the car and they seemed to like it.

Wednesday Test Results:
Motor Temperature after 6 Minutes - 126 Degrees
Battery - took 930 MAH in 6 Minutes
Gearing - 73 Spur, 31 Pinion, 49 MM Tire = 65.37 MMPR

As a performance comparision, my Best Lap in SCAR 17.5 is 10.1 Seconds and my Best in SCAR 25.5 is 11.2 Seconds. The 25.5 Car is 30 Grams Heavier. The performance is very similar to Rubber 17.5 TC - only 3 Rubber Touring Cars have turned quicker laps (Vanderwey, Vetor, Hutchinson) out of 33 cars.

Mark Pfister bought Mike Moore's CRC GenX10 last night to build a SCAR 25.5 Car. Kevin Hill is building one and I'm building a second 25.5 Car as a Guest Race / Test Car.

Lou Vanderwey is ordering the NOVAK 25.5 Motors as soon as possible. He could have some later next week.

Lou announced today that SCAR 25.5 will run 6 Minute Qualifiers with 8 Minute Mains.

I'm going to get John Tuszynski to paint a couple examples of SCAR 25.5 Bodies to show the Potential Look of the Class.

YES - there will be a SCAR 25.5 OVAL Class as well. Lou and I will be ready soon. The NOVAK 25.5 / Orion 2400 should be the perfect Power for OVAL FUN!!

SCAR 17.5 will continue to run for us SPEED DEMONS. I'll have both my SCAR 17.5 and SCAR 25.5 at the next race - for the FUN of IT!!

Project SCAR 25.5 set a new record of 31 Laps at 6.00980 at the Last Race on Lou's Speedway Circuit #3. Can't wait for the new layout - Lou's Speedway Circuit #4.

The performance is very similar, as I have said before to the Rubber 17.5 Touring Cars. Here are the Top Ten Best Rubber Touring Car 17.5 Runs - as you can see, the SCAR 25.5Record has only been beaten by two TC Cars

1/ Lou Vanderwey – Top 32 @ 6.06474 - TRACK RECORD
2/ Andy Vetor – Xray 32 @ 6.08357
Project SCAR 25.5 - 31 @ 6.00980
3/ Rob Say – 31 @ 6.01256
4/ Ty Grant – Top – 31 @ 6.02887
5/ Rick Endler – Hot Bodies – 31 @ 6.04386
6/ Andrew Harman – 31 @ 6.05717 - NEW
7/ John Elliot - 31 @ 6.06020 - NEW
8/ Steve Bortolotti – Tamiya – 31 @ 6.06917
9/ Gervais Grant - Top - 31 @ 6.09051
10/ JB Catricala – TC5 – 31 @ 6.11023

Both Classes are FUN. SCAR 25.5 is Simple. Lou will have motors soon from Novak.

Danny, the proprietor of WCRC, a fairly new (and fantastic), local SoCal indoor track is instituting a cost controlled Novak Havoc 21.5 Spec Racing series:

Racers, as many of you have voiced your concerns of the speed and cost of onroad racing. Team Novak and West Coast have teamed up and found a solution to make sure new racers, along with those who do not want to spend an arm and a leg on upgrading their elctronics just to be competative have a class to have fun in. Novak has decided to donate 8, havoc 21.5 combo to help jump start the new stock spec racing class at West Coast Raceway. Novak will hand out 8 havoc 21.5 combos this Saturday March 13th. We will offer this class every raceday along with a new series starting in about a month.

It's 2010, brushed racing is a thing of the past, upgrade your system to a brushless speedo/motor combo. We will offer this combo for 130.00 exclusivly at West Coast until 3.31.10.

Onroad racing is at a decline, we're hoping that slowing the hobby down will generate new racers who just want to have fun and don't want to invest their life saving on new electronics that will be outdated it 2 months.

The reason we chose this class is to slow the pace down, make it affordable, and make onroad fun again! You can run a tc3 and still be as competative as a T3. That's awesome....BRUSHLESS 21.5 STOCK SPEC RACING @ WEST COAST RACEWAY

Thumbs up

Project SCAR 25.5 entered the Oval last Night at Lou's Speedway, taking the Pole and the A Main win over a field of 17.5 Single Cell Cars. The Top Oval 17.5 Cars ran Best Laps of 4.6 seconds while Project SCAR in Road Race Trim ran a Best Lap of 4.7. However, the 17.5 Single Cell Cars' lap times fell off while the Novak 25.5 / Havoc 2S Sport / Orion 2400 Rocket LIPO Pack ran the same from start to finish.

The Novak was running at 102 degrees. I'll post rollout soon.

Project SCAR 25.5 has now proven itself on Circuits and Ovals. Lou is expecting his order of 25.5 Novak Equipment this week, many of it is PreSold as we have Racers waiting to build their own 200mm Pan SCAR Cars.

so in short, how much of a lap time difference are people seeing with a 25.5 with no FDR limit versus the current 21.5 with USVTA FDR Limit? Assuming both ESCs the same / no timing advance, etc.

Last night we had another Oval Race. Lou's Speedway received his Novak 25.5 order so we had 4 Cars running with 25.5s. I put the Novak 25.5 / Havoc 2S Sport / Orion 2400 Lipo combo in my new CRC BattleAxe Chassis using a Protoform COT Body.

Two of the 25.5 Cars turned best laps of 4.6 seconds. The Top 17.5 Single Cell Cars ran 4.5 seconds, however the 1 cell cars fade while the 25.5s run about the same laps start to finish.

My SCAR 25.5 Car set the Track Record with 63 Laps. I ran 75 MMPR Rollout. The Motor was 103 Degrees.

This Saturday we switch back to Road Course. More racers are switching to the 25.5 Novak, in fact, Lou has had to place a second order.
