The 16x9 is the same as the 16x5 but it has a 14 amp power supply built in

$20 cheaper for the 16x5 with external P/S plus its adjustable Ill go for it then sounds like a good deal does anyone use one? I know the t30/35 is great but Im not even near a national racer and I can take an old 200 to make a 4 cell pack for motor break in

Default NiMh, equalizing versus store partial charged?

Do any of you guys equalize yours Sanyo NiMh hi volt?

I assume equalizing will be good for NiMh. But when to do it?

I'm planning on getting some of the new Sanyo 3000 hi-volt. They recommend storing at 25-30% charged. So how to do. Charge, drive, partial charge, then store. The night before next use, then discharge/equalize? Or is it better to discharge/equalize after use, then partial charge and store?

In addition, I'm planning on using an active dischager with 0,6 volt cut off. WOuld this be good?

I take them down at 30 amps on my T35 after a run, then put them on an equalizer tray for ten minutes. Take them off, and store them. Next raceday, run them in practice, do the same thing and after they have cooled for several hours, I will use them in a race. They are better on their second run, that's why i use them in practice.

Default Integy Chargers

Integy has an exchange deal going on right now where you can send in your old 16x XX chargers and get a 16x5 or 16x9.
They give you between $45 -65 for your old charger, depending on model.

Check it out:

Well Acer's 6% solder rolled in today. Melting it was no problem. In-fact, it melts at a low temperture, 430* F(221* C). You can tell it doesn't have lead in it and after you've soldered something you can tell there's silver in it. Flux is in the solder already and it's ASTM B-32 Certified. Acer sells it in two differant packs, a 1oz. pack for $4.99 and a 16oz. for $59.99. Just something worth talking about!

Cole Trickle: Don't store your Hv with charge in them. Just follow the maintenance tips provided on this thread and you will be o.k.

Traying them will help keep the voltage up but it will hurt the runtime a bit.

Danny ...... I'm in need of some assitance. I curently have two 4 cell packs of HV's. Excelent numbers 1.16v, 23 ir's but they seam very flat in comparisson to my SMH's. I've tried charging the HV's at 7 amps with a .06 cuttoff on my T30. I am running 4 cell stock 12th scale. I charge so they come off the charger within 10min of my race, run my race, discharge the packs on my T30 down to 3.6v cutoff then I store them untill the night before my next race. That night I tray them, usually over night untray and charge at the track. I only have about 4 cycles on these packs and so far am pretty disapointed with there performance. I read all these people having excellent results but have experienced nothing that I am satisified with. Am I doing something wrong? Do they need more cycles? Please help.

schurcr: I don't really know what to say. We are using HV's with great results. In Cleveland we used 1 pack per driver and we charged them at 8 with a .07 peak detect. Try to get it to peak 5 minutes before your race and repeak with the same settings. We didn't tray the packs.

Do you have a T-35 ?

Inferno: LAVCO equipment produces different numbers than CE. In theory they should be similar but LAVCO uses a PC that can be programmed to multiply the numbers by a certain factor to achieve desired numbers. A few years back companies using LAVCO were selling 27 or 30 amp discharged cells with the average voltage of a 20 amp discharge. They achieved this by using a multiplier on the average voltage.

I haven't really tested any of the newer cells matched by LAVCO machines so I can't really say how they are.
