jwillman74w.. Yea i think it is hard to get a base setup going being so different than anyone else...

Lowline... Stock gearing.. Well this is a shot in the dark from where we run are 19 turns.. But i would say somewhere in the 32-36 range.. with a 100 tooth and 2.25 -2.28 tire....

jwillman, are you running stock? If so I can give you a setup that should be a very good baseline that you can work from.

Brian McGreevy,

Please post your base stock setup anyways, I'd be interested in it.

Ok here goes...this should work for almost all track conditions, depending on grip I just change the amount of time I let sauce sit...

Front:
50wt AE oil
Yellow Spring
#3 piston
Rear tower on front, middle hole
Outer hole on arm, will have to shave a little off c-hub so springs dont hit.
4 degrees caster (AE blocks), 6 degree if you want/need a little more high-speed turn-in
Losi steering knuckles
~2 degrees anti-dive, add .030" shims under the F block.
F-0
BRP .078 swaybar
Upper inner camber link
-1 camber (set so that tires wear flat, -1 has worked at the tracks i've raced at)
.045" shims under steering knuckle ball studs

Rear:
50 wt AE oil
Purple Spring
#2 piston
Outer hole on tower
Outer hole on arm
Upper inner camber link
Losi rear 0 degree hubs, outer hole, run 1/2 degree backwards to get 1.5* toe when grip comes up
R and R+2-0 blocks
no sway bar
-1.5 camber, again set so tires wear flat
middle wheelbase

4 mm ride height
Parma Alfa body (Mazda works good too, but I prefer the Parma)
Purple Orange (Plaid)/ Purple tires, Dbl Pink Orange/ Dbl Pink if the grip is low. Sidewalls glued when grip is high. Usually around 2.25-2.28 for race diameter (Jaco/BSR).

When setting droop....
Unscrew droop screws a turn or two. Set ride height. Should have lots of uptravel after that. Then, lift the car off the ground, and screw in the droop screws till the springs just touch the shock collars. I never use the 'gauge', and have used mm over ride height much before, but this way was faster on the track...

For you TC3 guys, run the batts forward as you always should. I run for Warpspeed and the chassis has the batts centered between the forward and back slots of the TC3.

If you have any questions with the setup, feel free to ask.

I'm looking for a carpet set up/suggestions to start with. I am running rubber tires (cs-22) and stock motors. I have tried the suggested starting set up as shown in the manual with no luck. The biggest problem I'm having is keeping the rear tires planted behind me. The rear seems very loose mid corner.

Any suggestions?

Brad never gave it to me. A couple other people told me things they've been using and I tried it on my car and it worked. My setup that I was running before was pretty close, just a couple minor tweaks and this is what I came up with.

RC-Racer... Go here and try this setup.. I know it is a good starting point. Since i do not run rubber tires on carpet that much.. Atleast it will get you in the right direction...

I'll give it a try. I noticed the set up requires the rear shock tower in the front. Is there anything I need to know about doing this? or is it just as easy as replacing the stock front tower with the rear one?

Thanks for the help.

Mike, did your family make it over to Disney during the snowbirds?? It was pretty crazy for the whole week and we never got to use our Disney or Seaworld passes that week. Next year we'll plan on extra days so we can hit the parks and race.
