Hello,

After a 3 year absence from the Hobby, I will be getting back to it this coming year and was wondering between the Associated RC8B and Losi Eight 2.0? What do you like about each or think is best?

I have raced the previous years the Mugen MBX-4 and MBX-5.

Currently I have a Losi Eight 1.0 that is still in the box never built before I took a break in the hobby. I am trying to figure out to just either build this or update to the latest. I usually run the latest and don't mind spending money. I wonder how much my unbuilt Eight is worth to sell today.

I appreciate any comments, as to typical issues or durability about each and things that are great about each.

i would recommend the xray 808.. its a fantastic kit. its simmilar to the mugens but lighter and stronger. Ive been running my 808 for about 3 months now with no breakages.. well worth the money and its a joy to build due to the quality of the kit.. well able to keep up (and even pass out) the losi ! theres the new 2010 specs 808 coming out soon also!!

8ight 1.0 resale value took a big dive when retailers where knocking them out heavily discounted

I think your best bet is to build the losi and run it.
As stuff breaks, then update it to 2.0 spec
An option might be to sell the 1.0 chassis whilst it's brand new and get a tft chassis and matching rear centre driveshaft

yea i would build the eight 1.0 and run it i run it at a track i go to and its pretty competive with the eight 2.0 its all about the driver anyways,i ran my for the whole year the only thing that is weared out is the diff gear and the axle coupler which has play on the wheels havnt broke the supension arms etc tuff man

+2 For Xray! I would say Xray 808 2010 spec-See my thread for details.. or the 09 kit..They are very light, incredibly durable and build quality is fantastic.. so nice to build. and best of all comes with Hudy Setup manual!

I'd say build the 8ight you already have and upgrade it to the 2.0 specs casually. It's still the 8ight, it's a good car regardless of whether it's the 1.0 or 2.0.

I actually run the original Associated buggy now but I started running it only a month or so before the RC8B came out, no big deal. Right now though I have essentially all the parts to turn it into a RC8B (and an electric conversion kit which I'm psyched about )

My point though in my random rambling is that the 1.0 will perform well. It's been a while since I ran the 8ight, so I can't recommend what there is to be upgraded, but I'm sure that info can be found easily.

the only thing that needs replacement is the rear hub hidge pins i bend them but dont know if it was from my landing or they just finally bent so i put titaum hinge pin and zero problems ,and a radio tray stiffer thats really the only thing that i could see that needs a upgrade

You ask a question like this and you will get 50 different answers. Any of the name brand buggies are good. Find the one you like the most and go with it.

Thanks for the comments, looks like the majority think best to build the kit I have.

Is there a conversion document made by Losi? I downloaded the 2.0 manual and can compare to see how many parts match and what will be good to upgrade I guess.

Lodi or ae always gets the old. Tastes great!! Less filling!! Response. Unless you are dying to spend some extra cash. Get a bce 2.0 chassis and a rear center driveline and build the 1.0 that you already have. That's my 2cents.

Yeah I think you should build it too.

I would also see what the majority race with at your track. It really sucks needing a bearing or screw or something, and no one else runs what you run.
