Hey Dave,
DONT PULL THE DIFF APART!! its the worst thing you can do because it will more than likely slip once its back together and you wont be able to stop it slipping when its back together. I will show you my diff next time I see you. I dont know why it is but the diffs dont like to be rebuilt. Even if the diff is gritty it wont affect the way the car handles.
As for bearings the ones off ebay will be fine.

Hi guys,
Since i have a month off racing im going to tear down my FK and rebuild it. This will be my first time rebuilding the rear diff and im aware you need a special tool to do it??
Is the HUDY caster clip remover tool what i need? Also will i need to buy any spares that might break easily or will be worn when i pull apart the diff?
Also i seen some bearings for an xray on ebay for $20US are these ok to use and will they run the same as the standard bearings or should i buy genuine Xray bearings?

you can just sand down the diff rings until they have a mirror finish. use like 1000 wet\dry sand paper. if you don't have the lube, you will need to purchase some. the xray diff lube is a lot thinner then say assoc. stuff. you will want to do all that to the parts under the caster clip as well.
i like the kit bearing. i tried others but always go back. they are very smooth and don't need a lot of work.

This sounds stupid, but the way I looked at it is this. Its almost worth the money to just get a new on and not bother with the rebulid.
I dont know how hard or easy it would be to rebuild but its well worth the 30bucks to not have to worry about it.
Just my two cents.

Maybe buying a new diff ring set is more worthed if you sum all the rework up.

Actually if we broken in properly on the first place, the diff ring will last very long, onle need polishing within rebuilt meant for clean up. But I like JohnMatirx idea the best

I wish that applies to us here in Australia as a complete diff can cost close to $100 Australian dollars.

4 hole front shock tower
Does anybody know if the BMI 350 front shock tower's holes line up with Xray's 4-hole carpet towers?
I recently bought an Xray 4-hole tower, thinking it was the one with the 2-over-3 camber mounting holes. But it's camber holes are 3-over-1 and the holes are way off from the stock FK camber positions.
I have the BMI one as well, so I'd like to use which ever one matches what most of the FK set-up sheets show.
