Hey guys, is their a significant advantage over using a high speed throttle servo? Is the response time in throttle that much more responsive to spend another $80-100 on?

I've been using a standard for throttle and seems to do pretty well but still reluctant whether to spend that kind of money on a new hundred dollar servo. Some people say to go for it while others say just use a standard.

Any input guys??

Its mostly for brakes(Hi-Torque)speed isn't that big a deal(but its nice)on the throttle.


Keep the Rubber(or Foam)on the Road!!!

actually htere isn't really a difference getting a faster servo. What is nice though is a STRONG servo that centers well.

I don't have problems with braking. I can stop my car on a dime with even a standard servo so I'm not worried about torque. Just wondering if a high speed servo will actually make a faster throttle response that will get me coming out of the corners quicker.

On another note, it will allow me to use ABS feature on my radio more effectively. Great for low traction tracks. Standard servos don't pump it fast enough.

Its different when you race at high speeds....if you race in a high speed track.......I used to have a Hitec 525MG servo for throttle .....found out the hard way when I started racing at SVM. Right now I'm using the 925MG and S9303 servo as throttle servos on both of my cars........the faster you go ....the more torque you need.

For my 1/10th scale cars, I use KO 2143 servo for throttle and steering. I get really fast throttle and brake response. I had tried it with ABS and the thing really pumps very fast. I cannot comment on really larage tracks as the tracks I race on are medium and small up here in the SF Bay Area, however I know the 2143 should have enough torque to stop the car at high speed.

Thanks Art. I think I will give it a go. Anyways, if I don't like it, I can always use the servo for another car for steering.

Yeah, Delta and Castle aren't exactly big tracks.

If you don't like the 2143 you can always sell it to me. I'm converting all my servos on all my cars to 2143.

Dan: for onroad racing, a fast or high torque servo is not a
requirement...for instance, in 1/8 4wd onroad, guys use the
Airtronics 94737 (.15 sec/57 oz-in) a lot...Josh Alton at RAMS
used to use (and probably still does) the standard issue 94102
(.22 sec/50 oz-in) except that the bushings would wear out
quickly. Granted, a high quality steering servo with reasonable
speed, say 0.11 sec or better and 110 oz-in can certainly
be felt on a 1/10 sedan or 1/8 onroad, but unless you are
running 1/8 offroad where lots of torque is needed for the
brutal braking, I think it is not needed.
As for the KO Propo fet servoes, I have used them since
the original 1001s in 1991 and they are extremely fast and
fine servoes....however, I noticed that all of the KO sponsored
guys at the last electric worlds in Japan were running the
analog 2173 instead of the digital 2143 for steering....hmmmm...
Oh yeah, Josh blew out two of the KO 2143s on his MRX2
last year and went back to running Futaba 9402s.

Thanks for your view on it. I'll consider your suggestions highly as you are among the faster guys here in Nor Cal.

I'll give the KO digital's a try. I hear more good things than bad and a lot of people I know run them. Although my 9402 for steering is holding up quite well. Like I said, if I find the difference to be marginal and not significant to my driving style, I'll throw it in a different car for steering.
