Strange Idle, Any Ideas?
Hi everyone,
I tried out a different glow plug last night, it was an OS medium hot.
As soon as I started i noticed a difference with the idle, it was ALLOT higher that with the standard glow plug that came with my buggy (1:8 nitro .21 SH).
Is this common? Naturally I adjusted the idle back to where it was previously but just curious if this is a common change when trying out a different glow plug.

I think yes when you change from cool to hot plug. Correct me if I am wrong.

What has happened isnt uncommon when you are changing from one heat range to another. When your engine was built it was designed to run on one type of heat range. Now when you go to a hotter plug you are advancing the timing of the engine, as well goes when you use a colder plug is retards the timing. Either way you are going to have to retune your engine accordingly in order for the system to work such as amount of intake and fuel needed to run at the set timing you have made.

whenever i change a plug range/brand or different nitro brand (same %), i'll richen my HSN and LSN by 15mins and retune from there.
