Default Pinion and or motor help...

We ran today after finally drying the track out after a good rain.

My 2'008 ran fine however was seriously lacking in the straights.

The guys I am running against are running 4.5 motors against my 7.5 Novak GTB.

John, you should have stuck around for a bit, we finally managed to vaccuum the track dry and had about 6 of us running.

Here is the setup and temps.

Xray T2'008 114 spur, 27 pinion, 2S 4900 lipo, Novak GTB 7.5.

The car has good power in the technical portions of the track but needs a bit more to be competitive... Should I just go to a 4.5 motor or is there a pinion combo that will keep me in the pack?

Motor 150* ESC 120-130* Pack 110*

Default

You got some room to gear it up but it may not be worth it. If you gear up you'll loose some of the punch from the technical part of the course. Of course you can practice and just beat those guys in the technical and give up some on the straight as you are now.

Default Can't catch the faster cars...

I am able to make the technical part just fine. However, if they run a clean line then I am down a lap before I can catch them again... we run 6 minute mains and that could put me down quite a bit...

If I go to 28 tooth then I may gain a bit, but I don't think it will be enough to compensate for the lack of speed in the long back straight...
