Liquid in the cyl works great but I only tighten the clutch nut just enough to get the flywheel snug on the collet then use a flywheel wrench to tighten it fully or at the least small channel locks on the outside of the flywheel. If you have to really crank down on the clutch nut while holding the piston down then you have other problems like a worn collet,flywheel,wrong clutch nut or you need to put shims behind your collet to make the flywheel closer to the clutch nut(only with worn collets & flywheels).You said the crank spins but not the flywheel,if you found that out by starting the motor then its a guarentee your collet & probably flywheel are now ruined.
