It's a good car. AE has a good race team. The RTR is pretty darn close to the factory team kit. I thinks it's a pretty good value.

What to do once you've got the truck:

Put a good steering servo on it (e.g. Hitec 7955) and don't bother upgrading anything else. Spend the money you would have spent on a fancy engine and radio on tires, fuel and spare parts. Practice like crazy. Practice is worth 10 times what fancy gear is and if you were to go out and buy an expensive race engine when your new you will just wreck it anyway. Wreck the stock stuff and upgrade it as you go.

The good stuff list: (lower cost option first, more expensive/preferred option 2nd)
Steering servo- Hitec 7955, KO 2386
Throttle servo- Hitec 7965, KO 2367
Pipe- Jammin JP series, Sirio/Werks 2013
Engine- Jammin JPX21, OS 21 VZB pro mod
Radio- Futaba 3PK, KO EX10 Helios

Once you've wrecked the stock RTR stuff and/or you can make it around the track for more than 4 minutes without crashing then you'll be ready to upgrade.
