Default shims for head

thats b/s you should use hot plugs for .12-.21 engines most of the time and medium-to cold glow plugs for .22 up engines. The manuel for sts .21-.30 engines says that for 20% and under should have .3mm shims. 25%nitro should have .4mm shims. 30% nitro should have .5mm shims. These are just sts guide lines. I use .2mm for 20% nitro, and .3mm for 30% nitro for best performance, but a engine will last longer with more shims. So its really a try and see wich gives you best power kind of thing. By the way the copper shims are .1mm and the silver shims are .3mm. Using no shims could make the engine detonate causing damage.

the temps should be between 220F-250F maximum. the reason it dose not seem smooth is either your to rich possibly or most likely your engine is pinging or detonating because of to much compression from no shims

Use the STS pipes with the motor , its a sick combo.

S12X3 (#1212)
IFMAR Legal .12 3port version

STS S12X3 IFMAR LEGAL .12 1/10 ENGINE (TEAM) 1205

they both have different part no's, looks like the same engine, but why the different part no's.

also do you where i could get this at a good price, rcmall. seems to be the cheapest.

I would say that the team version is a Tuned version meaning the factory have tweaked it

I hope this helps

I have a d12e (#1201) and i want to change the sleeve, rod, piston but i don't want to spend to much. Someone has offered a rebuild kit for the d3r which is also a 3 port motor and it's cheap. The conrod looks the same but i'm not to sure on the other parts. Could someone tell me if the d3r sleeve and piston (#120300-8) will fit into the d12e crankcase?

Cheers

I have the D30m in my buggy and it absolutely screams. It's so freakin loud aswell but today when i was running it the temps got up to 130 degrees celcius plus but it was still blowing a heap of smoke. I didn't want to lean it out any more as the temps were to high IMO but if i richened it up to lower the temps it would blow even more smoke. When i mean smoke i mean there was more than what you would call normal. Is 130+ normal for this engine, is something wrong with my tune and i 've just got to find the sweet spot??

Can anyone shed any light on the situation for me?

Cheers
