preheat oven to 350-400
place tires on cookie sheet
put in oven for 15-20 minutes
be prepared to get cookie sheet with tires on it OUTSIDE because as soon as you open the oven door the tires will begin to smoke...sometimes a little smoke...sometimes a LOT of smoke
set them outside until they cool off
peel tires off and remove foams
use oven mits
oh...and make sure the wife is gone shopping when ya do this

Soak tires in acetone and leave for a day. Come back next day and just peel tires off wheels. Just as simple as stated.

2 things one when you say acetone do you mean some thing like paint thinner or nail pollish remover second thing i have heard that will weaken your rims

i have a set of rims that have had prolly 20 sets of tires on them and they are still good condition a few nicks but no cracks or chips

+1 on the acetone. Acetone is a chemical that you can get at your local hardware store by the gallon. I would suggest to buy a metal paint can (new with no paint inside) or find something that seals well. Acetone is highly volatile and flammable. Follow directions on can so you don't get sick sitting in your basement with your nose in the can! :þ I haven't had any problems with rims getting weak but I don't go smashing into every turn.

boiling is the EASIETS way, but like mfrosty said, its a hit or miss thing
#12
try boiling or oven-ing, i heard using acetone turns your foams into powder.

I definately prefer baking, not only does it work better and fast than boiling, you won't burn the crap outta your fingers trying to get the tires off. Once the foams soak up that hot water when you start peeling them off you'll get a nice blister on your thumb.

good point. i had a blister once trying to boil some noodles, hurt like hell

+1 acetone
if you are just trying to save the wheel - acetone is your best best
yes it does kill the foam BUT:
What you need to do is cut the tire off around the edges remove the tire and foam then put them in acetone and pill away the rest of the tire................. I have use this for years and never had a problem....... last year I reused 3 sets of wheels all year...... sweet when your racing Truggy hahahahahaha
Good luck
ps: I did the baking once, fire department gave me a fine- and social services came to my home - huge hazard --- I guess buring/ cooking rubber is not good in a home..........
