Default ESC

If I did get the Novak I would probably get the cyclone TC or TC2 (something like that). What is the difference? At first I will be running stock for a while and then move up to modified. Would the cyclone still propel the modified very good. I have the money so I am not afraid of costs when buying a esc (except if its like 170 or over. Also has anyone ever used an mtroniks esc. I was looking at the msonic dash and it looked good for the price.

Default charger

and also does anybody know why the reedy quaser charger costs the same amount of money as the duratrax digital peak charger. And yet the duratrax charger has a screen and i think has more features.

i'd take the TC2 if it is not too much compared to the cost of TC. both of the ESC with almost the same spec (i have both for modified), except that the TC2 has a extension cord for the capacitor so u dont have to solder it (just plug in).
i have some friends who use mtroniks dash, but it is not punchy enough. personally i like CycloneTC, TC2 and LRP 7.1 (the old version, not the small Quantum series).

Can you tell when you switch the modes on the cyclone. And also what does the pitwizard do on the novak charger?

Yes the cyclone does allow you to see which profile you are running, and on the charger you get what you pay for. Im not saying the duratrax chargers arn't any good Im just saying the Reedy charger is probably better quality.

You really should be asking these questions elsewhere, this thread is for the TC3 and you might have a better chance of getting answered in a more appropriate forum.

My car right now has

Diff/Oneway - Diff
Anti Sway bar - yes
Tire - Sorex 36R
Insert - HPI green
Wheel - Yokomo ABS rims (0512-2)
Mount - F-0
Block carrier - 2
Ride height - 4.5
Camber - 2
Toe In - 0

Rear:

Oil - 30wt
Spring - Silver
Anti Sway bar - yes
Mount - R-3-0
Ride height - 4.5
Camber - 2

IRS input shaft
Composit shocks
Graphite chassis set
Robinson spur gear
Robinson super light pinion
Steel turnbuckles
Shield of bearings off oneside of rubber bearings

Motor : p2k2 pro
rpm - 31,935, power - 126.8 w
Spur 72t
Pinion 28t

Track (socal) - indoor, hardbite, smooth asphalt

I'm 2 laps off of top driver in intermediate class.
Do you see anything I can do to my car other than practice?

I only have unmatched 3000H cells and ran about 4 ~ 5 times a day.

Do you think the battery and the practice is the only way to improve rap time?

I didn't use tire additives.

Or the front oneway should make big difference?

Thanks for helping.

How is your car handling eg understeer, oversteer?
Does it have as much grip as the fast boys?

It has a slight oversteer which is a little more than I would've liked.
I will correct that.

Every other guys are running front oneway so they run it more smoothly.

My tires have much less grip compared to other people I used them for 2 months now. Do you think I should change the tires?

My car lacked a little speed when running side by side.
I'm thinking about gearing up or buying a better cells.

Any thought?

rcruv - Try changing the gear ratio on your P2K2...its not the same as a P2k. My friend used a 26 pinion on it and it was quick. Batteries may also be a problem. What ESC do you have?

Having the sway bar on the back may cause oversteer. I don't know what your rules are, but if you are allowed to use additive, I would use it. If you put new tyres on then you will go around the corners quicker and this will also help you down the straights.

Hope this helps

26 pinion will be faster than 28?
The track right now has a long banked quasi straight way.
I don't know how they will change track next week.
I'll try 26.
I tried 27 and was one lap slower.
I asked a guy running faster than me and he said 26 or 27 should work fine. I'm confused.

I use TC2, Airtronics receiver.

Right, my AM radio currently has some glitch problem so I retreat from being too aggresive.

I hope my new FM radio would solve that out.

I directly soldered the motor and wires are short enough.
I use deans for the side by side packs I converted from cheap sport packs.

Ask what gearing the fastest guys are running the next meeting you attend.

Since you say a 27 tooth was 1 lap slower, ignor my suggestion. You use a Novak TC2...good man! . I think that the problem now is your batteries. I used to use sport 2000 packs and was always a lap off the pace....then I invested in some Team Orion Matched 2400s and now I'm one of the guys setting the pace . Unmatched sport packs just don't provide the "punch" that matched packs would....or so I've been told. That should be your next investment I think. It worked for me .
