Adjust the gear mesh properly to eliminate the whine. Check that all the bearings spin freely. Clean it. However, it will never be as quiet as a good belt driven car.

That's not true. I know a few guys at SoCal who have TC3s that don't make any noise. They won't tell me what they did though. I use a special pinion gear and I use white lightning on my diff gears. That and shimming made my car very quiet and smooth.

Do you have the new white delrin gears? Those free up the drivetrain a lot and make it really quiet too.

Are you referring to the new Associated off-white gears? I hear they are more durable but they're not delrin

Yes i am, i heard they were delrin. They do make the drivetrain much quieter and more free.

I'll have to try them. I asked on the Associated web site if they were delrin and the person that responded said they were not and sounded a little irritated by my question. I guess he had answered it one too many times before.

Yeah they don't look like delrin...that's for sure. Delrin is usually bright white but these are more of a dull yellow

I don't really care what they're made out of, they are better.

It is not hard to make a tc3 quiet. All you need is, first of all, a new pinion and spur. That should take care of most of it. Then, routine maintenance on the r&p gears (ie. cleaning each tooth thouroughly) Then clean all the bearings and re-lube them with a light bearing oil.

Also, if not using the bearing spacers, make sure the wheels are not overtightened.

One common problem is worn cvds and outdrives, they can make a TON of noise.

Yes proficar, you are right the spur as it wears starts to make more noise, as the spur wears you can flip it and get twice the life.

What do you put in the diff case or do you run it dry?
