Boomer,

TRF414M is Tamiya Car. I just like this car a lot because of the quality and the silver color. I also have TC3 and I am too lazy to think of new name.

Default Split battery packs

Who here in this thread splits their battery packs I.E. Three cells up front and three cells in back. If so what proformance advantage do you get out of it, if any? I know the car is supposed to feel more balanced, so why don't the pro's do it????
personal perfance???? I've been going back and forth with this idea and just wanted to see what other people thought.
Thanks Sponger

Re: Split packs. Main reason??? Pain in the ass! There ya have it!

It does balance the car a little better, though.

It's not a PITA to me, I've been running split packs for quite some time(since I had a couple of Yok YR4-M2's), & I still do it that way in my TC3's. While I haven't tried the packs any other way in a TC3, I haven't felt a need to, my cars almost always feel very nicely balanced, just the way I like them.....

Ya, but the split packs on the HPI were mandatory. Some people just don't like to deal with split packs....including me. I guess it's just a preference thing.

Hi guys. Greetings from Malta.

I see Tony's point. If all your packs are set out in side by side configuration, there is probably so little to be gained by running 3 up front and 3 at the rear, that it's not worth the hassle.

I run MR4s and my son runs TC3s. As things are we can use each other's cells.

What we do with the TC3 when we are running on anticlockwise circuits is slot in a disconnected 7th cell to bring the car up to the weight limit.

On clockwise tracks of course, the TC3 should be at an immediate disadvantage, with more weight on the outer side, so we pack all our balast on the side of the electrics. There's not much else you can do.

Regards

Joe from sunny Malta.

I've got a question for everybody. My local track is going to a rubber tire class for average drivers like myself. So I need to know what kind of tire/insert combos work well on carpet. What is the best?

tx setting

hey tony,
please tell me your transmitter setup for the TC3, ie: str/throttle-brake exp, d/r, epa & atl (brake value in 3PJS).
Do the pros set their car up by the chassi and then fine tune it using the transmitter (linear or curve values)? Or is it just the a personal thing ?

Thanks.

Flash.....Sorex 20, 24, & 28's work well. Run Yokomo medium or Sorex inserts.

Pit Shimizu 700's & 709's with Yokomo medium inserts work well also.

i ran my tc3 today, i blew out both front out drives, the first then the second the battery after. i was going to get the irs pin cushions to help with the problems but what are your guys opinions of them. also i was going to order the aluminum steering rack is this one a little more precise over the molded one?

spaz - what outdrives were you running? Composite, alum or steel? Were you running the one way or diff?

If you blew out the oneways, I don't think the pins would have helped. I usually blow them when I'm running the oneway and hit a dot - in the air the wheel is free-wheeling then when I hit the ground, all that momentum and spin of the motor slams on the outdrives. . .breaking the axles.

nah i was running normal diff set up with composite out drive i wasnt using the locked diff or anything. i figured the pins would wouldnt really help much in the problem but i thought they would be nice to have.

Redsand: Usually we set the car up as close as possible to perfect. The radio becomes fine adjustments. EPA's are usually as high as possible, with EXPO's adjusted according to track conditions (loose track, adjust either the throttle (smoother throttle) or steering (not as much throw or speed).

Most of it though IS personal settings. My of my cars are set up to be somewhat smooth into corners. That let's me drive them harder than normal, if I need to. Others set their cars for aggressive turn-ins....allowing them to be aggressive ALL the time. I'm not that quick with my reflexes anymore to try to drive (competitively) cars like that!

Oh, ya, ran a 7turn brushless motor in my TC3 this weekend at the Camarillo HP race. Ummm, REALLY fast....
