as long as the packs are stickpack style with rounded edges like these

there is a conversion kit to use higher capacity brick style packs

All of the later model F-104 X series cars are built to accept brick style packs

Most of us run the shorty packs

I prefer to run the pack forward at all times, foam or rubber

F-104WGP

F-104vII

The kit supplied 93T spur works with 64p pinions
Pinions from 30-35t is the range with 21.5 blinky at most tracks on rubber tires

Is that shorty lipo a drop in? Holds in place with the upper deck or do I need to use tape?

Also what pinions come with the F104 Pro? Ideal to run the stock pinions with the 21.5? Or were those designed to be used with the silver can motor?

Shorty more or less drops in, there may be a screw to loosen or remove, and there is a bracket with 2 clips to hold it, as viewed in the WGP pic, tape is an option, though few, if any use it

Kit supplied pinion is 23t, which is ok for SC motors on short tracks

Great, Thanks for that info there.

How do you like that Fusion shorty? If you know anyone that is selling a shorty, please let me know.

So this is what I have so far.

Futaba 9551
Tekin 21.5

It's good to have spares

The current Tamiya tires are ok for bashing/practice
You will ant Shimizu tires for racing though
571/572 is a popular combo

Hi,

I bought 4 sets of scales to measure the weight of my F104Pro on each axle/tire. I messured following values:

rear left: 331g
rear rigth: 287g
front left: 226g
front rigth: 248g

IMHO it would be best to have the left and the rigth hand side of the car balanced at the same weight.

Could that result that out of where I put my electronics, or could the car be tweaked somewhere? I put some weight on each electronic post to balance my Spectrum receiver with the Tamiya TEU-302BK ESC.

What are the best ways to balance the weight of the car? What relation (front to rear, left to right) is common?

regards
Oortael

64P pitch pinions are okay to use with the stock Tamiya spur? Are you positive? Just don't want to strip any spurs....
