Had a run last night and played with the tamiya tires.

conditions were low grip, cold night, and the only change to the car between rounds was the rears. Ran tamiya hards up front. I run Tekin 21.5. with boost etc. 8 min races

first up tried tamiya soft rears with the shimizu inserts that come with the shimizu rears. FXII for 15 minutes. Best Lap 25.351, Avg 26.205, Car felt very stable, and easy to get onto power. 19 Laps total 8m17. I had used these tires for 3 races earlier, so had some wear.

next race tried tamiya soft with foam insert. Treated with FXII 15 minutes. Best Lap 25.830 Avg 25.830. Car felt fine, I did feel that I couldn't hold on the throtle as early. 18 laps in total 8m.05.

Final race of night went back to first race setup and car felt even better, but I forgot to but in transponder, but I was able to finish within 1/2 sec or corally for another 19 laps.

I would recommend for low traction cold to give the Tamiya Soft rear's with the shimizu inserts a go if looking for rear traction.

Option front tires are hard compound, the kit fronts are medium and will increase grip.
The Option rears are soft and will give the most rear traction as far as Tamiya tires go. The kit rears are also medium compound.
For more steering you can go to the kit medium fronts with the soft option rears or keep the hard fronts and go to the medium kit rears but will probably lose too much rear traction.
For additive that should be easy to get, try cleaning the tires each run with Simple Green. Works especially well on the Tamiya F104 rubber.

finally got around to testing the rc4less foam 104 tires! the Tamiya fronts wear waaay too fast.
Mantisworx independent rear suspension chassis
RC4 soft rears,super hard fronts
17.5/3s
track was rained on this morning so it was very loose but i still had plenty of grip!

tires are great, after 3 full packs very little wear, normally i wear out a set of fronts every other pack at least to the point where i can barely use them.

the track is huge, its full throttle and is quicker than a 17.5boosted setup. i normally run 17.5 boosted and needed more power for this track. that straight is 230' long! what your looking at is about 61mph, your not going to be able to do that with a 2s 17.5 boosted setup and if you did you would have no bottom end for the infield. do your own math:
http://scriptasylum.com/rc_speed/top_speed.html
KV reference: http://teamtekin.com/blmotors.html

2500kv
3.25 gear ratio
2.4"dia tires
11.1v (actually 12.2 on a full charge)

even if you were able to get 25k rpms, with timing (which you are not) that still only puts you at 55 mph max with a use able gear ratio.

on this track 1/8 scale gas cars exceed 75mph!

that thing looks evil man. Wheel spin out the corners, so sideways i thought it may have rear steering. Is that your chasis or f104?

You should try the Shimitzu tires. The R3 soft rear's and F3 medium fronts work well on carpet........ good luck.
