Hi All,

Does anyone know where I can pick up the F104 Pro? I've been looking and no one seems to have them in stock! Reading this thread makes me want to get one ASAP!

Cheers

Cool, thanks for that.

Some questions before I buy the F104...

1. Can I use 48 pitch Kimbrough spur gears?
2. What is the max ride height?
3. Is the servo secured by screws or adhesive tape?
4. Possible to use standard TC rims and sorex? Wanna convert to a pan car.
5. Do I have to paint the driver? Can I just remove it?

Thanks

Not sure, as long as it fits the axle. Read somewhere that you might need to get an adpator from 3Racing.

How high do you want it to be? I measured 7 mm rear with new tires and when i place the height adjustable thing to the max.

Tape.

Dun think so. coz the fronts knuckles are not using hex adaptors.

Your call.

i'm trying to answer your questions.
1. i don't think so. because F104's spur gear is also a ball diff.
but i've read it somewhere in this thread, you can use a special adapter to mount 48/64pitch spur gear. i've never tried that.
2. -
3. the ear of the servo should be removed. the servo is secured by adhesive tape to the plastic mount. this mount is secured to the lower deck by four screws.
4. no. the rear hex is bigger than TC hex. the front doesn't use hex.
5. it's up to you, you can leave it unpainted or you can just paint it black.

1- Yes, there are many adapters out there to fit them, although 64 pitch gives you more finite ratio choice
2- dont know, havent got my car yet
3- servo is taped in to a mount
4- not in the stock configuration, but you can use the diff parts from the 103GT as well as the front knuckles to allow these wheels to work, the only unknown is whether the front end will allow enough travel( GT knuckles are taller)
5- Driver is molded into the body, so if you are swapping bodies, then no you dont have to run it

1. Yes with the I.D. bushing available aftermarket.
2. Depends on tire dia.
3. Spec is tape, I use shoe goo for that solid, but removeable mounting.
4. If you use the F103GT front knuckles/spindles and rear hubs/diff you can use TC wheels/tires. (GT knuckles may be taller so use less kingpin spacer.....)
5. The driver body is Molded into the body set, helmet screws on.

Enjoy your new Tamiya F-1 car.......

Thank you for your replies. So theres still a chance to run TC wheels.
Can someone give me the part numbers of the parts that I needed to
make it accept TC wheels? And also the link of the spur gear adaptor
so I can use 48p gears?

Questions again...
1. In stock gearing, whats the optimum BL set up? 13.5? 17.5 or 10.5?
2. Possible to fit Novak BL ESCs without mods?
3. Can I use sub c cells in side by side configuration?
4. Can the caster angle be adjusted or is it fixed?
5. Will the front wheels bind up if you over tighten the wheel nut?
6. How long will the stock foam tyres last for twice a day RC bashing?
7. Are F1 rubber tyres available?

Cheers ü

2. i use novak gtb, i didn't want to shorten the wires so i should run it without sidepod (the narrow one).
may be if you shorten the wires and rewiring the capasitor to the right (receiver area) you can attach the sidepod.

OR you can just choose the wide sidepod configuration, it would give you wider space, so there would be no problem.

3. i dont think so. may be you should do some mod.
4. Caster: it is fixed.
5. Overtighten: from my experience, slightly bind up. it still rotate but the wheel stops earlier.
6. on med-high grip aspalth surface, front tires: 4-5 runs using lipo (approximately 15 minutes each). rear tires: 7-8 runs.
it depends on the track surface.
