Same here. I recommend SP products without reservation due to their exceptional service and they have excellent products.

90* C is quite hot. 60*C is fine, you might actually be able to go up a tooth or so on your pinion or advance the timing a little more.

i was always told that 100 degrees is MAX for a motor after this the insulation melts off

90 is ok for me , the motor has lasted all year so far and is still awsome

60 is still a little cool for me , i will test some more tonight

I've also been running my motor around 85-90C for quite sometime now and don't see any reduce in performance since. I used to run another motor about 95-100 but that one smoked on a nice sunny afternoon!...

I notice that lap times drop with temperature. So I always run my motors as hot as possible with consistent performance throughout a 5 minute heat.

Hi I recently purchased a version 3 SP 13.5 brushless motor. I have ran the motor on 2 race meetings and cant seem to get the best out of it. The motor has no punch out of the corners and no top end.

I am comparing this against a Novak SS 13.5

I am using a GM120 Speedo; final drive is at 5.88 and full advance on the motor. And profile 8 on the Speedo. Temp after running for 5 minutes 68.4C or 155F I have changed the gear ratio from 5. 4 to 6.2 with little improvement.

Advise please

Keep going past 6.2 for the final drive, or take away some of the timing in the motor.

not sure what the full timing on the GM is, but, messing with all the timing and turbo crap, and three different ESC's with a 17.5 I came up with zero timing on the motor, 28 degrees on the esc, geared at a 3.7 small to medium size carpet track, for the 13.5 i would imagine it would be similar, gear in the med to high 4's check keep checking temps and change gearing accordingly
