I allways notice allot of wear on my center cv joints. The front and rear center drive shafts take a beating with no lubrication and running dry. All manufactures would have to do is incorperate a rubber boot to hold some lube in the cv joint and I bet almost all the wear would be eliminated.
The rear shafts on my rc8t are a good example but why did they stop there.

I might start looking for a boot that will fit. I found traxxas boots for there revo cvd but the shaft is to big. I'll keep hunting

Even on the RC8 buggy I have run into this. My front CVD started squeaking pretty loudly. Had to hit it with a shot of WD40. Stopped the squeak and not attracting too much dirt. Boots would have been nice. GMK makes some boots that might work with those joints, but I haven't tried them yet...

I was looking on tower. I'm gonna pick up shock boots and whatever axle boots they have and see if anything works.

i found wd 40 to attract dirt, if you clean them out good and use a wax type lubricant they hold up pretty well, like the odonnell olube, or any high quaility bike chain wax , the boots are nice but i still got dirt in mine with the boots on them

ok i will. I can't imagine how much less friction there would be with the cv joint being nicely lubricated. I also had a weird squeeling noise once in a while. Turned out to be the cv joint just being bone dry and metal on metal. Can't wait to grease them and slap a boot over the whole thing.

my losi has boots over them, i thought the same thing i put some good grease in there and covered them up, after 1 weekend they were locking up from the dirt that had been attracted to it from the grease, it still gets in there even with the boot

The factory losi boots do not work. They let the sand in and keep it in . Its worse then running them dry. the gmk boots look the same as the losi but I dont know if they work. It appears that the hole in the losi boot is too big to seal it. The boots by dynamite for the tmaxx work great with grease inside. DYN7687 is the part number. They work great on all losi buggy and truggys. The losi 1.0 buggy on the rear drive shaft is the exception. The battery box can flex and come into contact with the boot and tear it. It lasts intill the car gets the right kind of hit then its torn. If put on new you will not wear out a center cvd.

^ oh I should add the reason it works so well is because it puts like a wax coating over whatever you put it on [dont worry it dries clear...] and it wont attract any dirt or dust.

Idk matter of opinion I guess. boots are just more rotating mass and drag...plus I can still imagine some crap getting inside of them

The GMK Supply CVD Condoms (and the Losi Grease Boots on the 2.0 vehicles) are intended to help keep the CVDs together, not seal out dirt or keep lube in (although they do help keep some dirt out as a side benefit).

I used the sportwerks boots on my RC8T...I had to stretch them on but they are still holding strong!
