I'm looking to replace my 1400mah hump pack receiver batteries in my Kyosho ST-RR truggy with a higher capacity battery. It must be able power 2 digital servos through at least a 30 minute race, and I really don't want to have to switch everything over to LiPo given the expense and that they are still fairly tempermental.

I'm thinking around 2400mah nimh, so which packs are you guys running and what are your recommendations? Thanks!

iirc the biggest 5 cell hump you can get is a 1700mah

your 1400mah should be. i can get at least 45 minutes with my 1200mah pack. with digital servos too

Actually that is NOT true. If you go to AA sized batteries you can go up to 2700. I myself have been running these type of AA packs for years with great success. I would pick up a ballistic batteries 2700 mah sanyo 5 cell AA pack or the stickman 2500 mah AA pack. The ballistic would be favored but the stickman is very good as well and cheaper. These packs last all day easily without being charged. They are slightly bigger and heavier than the typical reciever pack but will easily fit in your Kyosho. Oh yeah Mugen also makes one but it is only 2300mah and very pricey.

intellect sold by hyperion rc or you considered lipo's?

the hyperions are 2000mah and last a 60 minute final no sweat, plus they really feed power hungry servos since the packs are high drain cells.

Just make sure you charge them up and high amp on first cycle charges of the battery packs i have them in at 1.5amps then usually run them at 1 amp.

I just got a Ballistic 2700 mah battery for my 8t. Should I just charge it on 1amp ,or something different for the first charge? I have one of those little Dynamite chargers that has a 1, 2, and 4 amp setting, and beeps when charging is complete. I'm hoping this battery will give me longer and more consistant performance. I have been runninga ofna 1700 and it seems I can tell a difference in steering after say a couple of tanks. I'm running the 7955 for the steer. Thanks for any comments

I charge mine at 2 amps. Have been for 3-4 years without one problem. The AA bateries can be charged at higher amperage. Rule of thumb for setting amperage is you divide the MAH by 1000 to get amperage. Now that is for the bigger sub c cells so you want to go slightly lower than that. That means 2700 divided by 1000 is 2.7 so I charge at 2.

+1 stickman's are very good. I prefer the ballistic ones because of the higher MAH but other than that they are very equal. Both are hand made and very good products. Batteries that are made with REAL solder are soooo much nicer than the spot welded mass produced ones.

I think the Ballastic 2700 pack are the highest Nimh receiver pack you can get. I have 2, one in my Jammin X2 CRT and other one as backup. I can go a whole day of practice or racing without having to charge it during the day.

Just go get some energizer 2500mah aa batteries and solder some packs up you can make like three packs for price of the store bought packs. keep your charge down around .5 amp and it will last longer

or you could charge it at 2 amps and have it last 4 years. Plus these packs take a LONG time to charge at .5 amps. 2 amps will get it done in less than an hour.
