I have wanted a Shepherd V10 for a long-time and now that the 11' is out I am really concedering it. The only proplem I have had is I am so invested in a Serpent 733 that it is hard to make the switch. Could someone that has driven both cars tell me what you think about each car. I know another question like this.....
Thank you,
Tim

An addition to the HERD
After much deliberation we chosen to make the switch to Shepherd for a great many reasons.
Early feedback:
Negatives:
Reaching the rear droop screws seems like an effort
Front droop/sway block in plastic need changing
Clutch front bearing bothers me
C Clips on wheel hubs caused grief for son - need the right tool
Needed a third post. (Son followed M Rhienhard and made his own)
Positive:
Pinion split at 4mm means I can use TM clutches.
Diffs are a delight, small
Handle works as a roll bar, sweeet
Build nice and manual quite reasonable
Concerns:
Access to rear droop screws
Grub screw type lower shock arm connection
Front bearing on Shepherd clutch is tiny.
Needed to shave down the ball cup on steering to prevent rubbing on bulkhead.
Fuel tank is quite long and maybe subject to heat deformation
Overall I think it's a good car and we'll soon find out how it handles. Machining seemed precise and the 2011 updates were included and necessary as the front eccentrics were way too low from what I saw.
We included LiIon, with a Muchmore 7A regulator, I've never liked the idea of a regulator, I suppose we had to at some point try it out.
Any further tips would be appreciated.

Enjoy your new toy, your right about the front doop screws, they are very loose in the alloy.

Hello,
I,m using lifepo4 6,6V batteries and no need for a regulator. They fit perfectly as you can see in the pictures. These yellow ones are 1100mAh and they last for 45min. I have a 1350mAh and one hour is no problem. You can also get one with 1500mAh, on ebay you get them for $8/peace so $16 for two + cables cca $20!

The front droop screws into to alloy bulkheads just add a little threadlock and the fine, the rear droop screws just compress the suspension slightly and you can get to them not too bad.
As for the front bearing on the clutch, I had similar concerns when I bought mine when the car first came out, but a season later and I still have the original bearings in!
Once you have a set of circlip pliers the drive shafts are a doodle!
Best thing about the car is how easy it is to work on, just happen to handle great too.
Enjoy you new car

You wont be disappointed, I have had the car for a couple of months now and it is great. In regards to the front sway bar blocks Team C make a heap of hop ups for the car like one piece engine mount, alloy body mounts and alloy front roll bar holders just see Jeff at Trackside RC if he hasnt got them he should be able to order them for you (check the Team C website out).......
I used the LiIon battery but I have just ordered a small heli lipo for it this is to cut alot of weight out of the car so I can position it were I want. The much more reg is good I'm using the same one (I take it you got it off jeff lol).
I have to say that the car is very durable I had done 4 race days and 3 practise days on the same belts, pulleys, pinions and spurs with very little wear (I only changed them for the semi for the NSW states).
I have added a few pics of my car mind you I'm half through changing some stuff.
ps - Luke said on FB you guys were going to Brendale today for testing how did it go ???
If you have any questions etc you got the best person to ask at Trackside RC but if you get stuck just PM me or xr8man (Derrick Miller).
Cheers,
Michael
