I had a great time this week at the birds. Made the trip with some good friends and went home with a few more. Thanks to Larry for the setup advice and shock building clinic. Thanks to Mike for the spool. Thank goodness I found that problem before the main. Big thanks to Arvin Nano for all the help in getting the car right. You're the man. Glad you guys got to experience "Nancy". He's a big guy with a big heart.

All of Larry's cars were on point. At one point, they called him out on TQ pace with a 17.5 in the mod qualifier. With all the talent in that class, that was a serious piece of work. Can't wait until next year to get back down there and mix it up again. I learned a lot this past week and look forward to next year.

There are alot of would of could of should ofs from me about this weekend but needless to say it had nothing to do with my equipment.

I had winning cars in all 3 classes I actually tried in.

I only ran modified to get some more time on the EX in high bite conditions.

I was able to get a couple 10.4s out of it in one round of Modified but I was only running 17.5 boosted in Modified.

I also ran my Photon a couple of times to get a good comparison.

I'm soo excited for the EX now after seeing the potential that it hass in high bite conditions.

I was excited for the main but I got dumped by Hayoto on the first lap and came out 10th. My transponder stopped counting after I checked in. I finished in the 5th spot even though it shows a DNS on the sheet. Not terrible for being taken out by a former world Champion.

Cant win them all I guess.

Good work from the rest of the team and all our customers out there.

It was good Meeting all of you, especially a guy named Nancy, yes Nancy.
larry, just out of curiousity did you use a ball or gear diff in the ex ??

glad you guys had a good time & congrats to all the top drivers

I showed up with gear/gear in my car exactly as I run it at home. The front was way too lazy for the traction. I switched to the spool up front with the side piece outdrives and the car came to life. I went back to the front gear diff with a heavier fluid and the car felt good everywhere except the chicanes. It was just too lazy to get through them quickly. I ran the ball diff for a few minutes but went back to the gear diff in the rear. Final setup for me was spool up front with the 50mm ECS and SPR Mira outdrives, and yokomo gear diff in the rear with 80wt oil. This was my first experience with high bite like that and I learned a lot. My car got better every day and really felt good in the main.

Setting up a new to me Photon, working on the anti-sway bars at the moment, I have a lot of tweak in one of them, how do you adjust the tweak(of the bar) on this set-up?

Going to be running the car on med traction carpet, rubber tires anyone point me to a good starting set up for 17.5 blinky?

Also, how do you tell which chassis is on the car, there are two lipo chassis 2.25mm thick.

TIA

hey guys thanks for the report on the snowbirds - makes for some awesome tips etc.

do you think there will be a lot of parts compatibility from the old proton to the EX?

im also looking for a new spur gear, do any other manufaturers use the same spur gear on the photon?

Mike Hanulec has been kind enough to put together a wealth of photon info all in one place...
