MR4TC SD Driveshaft Problems.
Hello, i have just made my yokomo sd the other day and today i took it to the track to practise, i had tested the car off the floor and all the driveshafts and diffs etc seemed fine. i put it down on the track and did a few corners but then the steering went funny. under closer inspection it turned out the little black cylinders that houses a grub screw in the end of the driveshaft had stopped moving normaly it spins, but both sides had just gone rock solid. i had to knock the cylinder out with a srewdriver in a clamping device. when i first put the cylinders in they just slipped in, now i cant get them in without forcing them in, has anyone got any infomation on this problem or has anyone had this problem, please let me know, cheers.

Did you possibly put too much thread locker on it???

not a great fan
i am not a great fan of using threadlock, so i didnt use any, i have put it all back together now and seems fine but i will have to wait until it goes on the track, cheers anyway.

Definately does sound like you got a little messy with the thread lock. Take them apart, scrub the thread lock off everything, and carefully reassemble.
You should post all of your SD related questions in the SD thread, keeps the board much less cluttered...

no impact
i didnt even hit the track, and also both wishbones did exactly the same thing, may it have anything to do with the differentials ??????

try to take the universal apart and clean the parts with motor spray, then test to see the shaft can move normally before you reinstall the set screws
also check to see if the splitted end of the bone is bent, and make sure the whole pin is fully flush with the outside of the axle

i have cleaned it all up and it seems fine at the moment but it was fine before it happend the first time. so as i said i will have wait and see what happens

i know its very weird, i may have just accelerated and turned at a funny angle maybe, where it was not free or something. i built them right because my mate sleighty did exactly the same and his are fine

yeah, it is hard to go wrong when building the shafts
and i think it is a good idea to slightly coat the set screw with thread lock, the shaft will lock itself if the set screw backs out

i have run the driveshafts in at different angles for about 20 minutes and they seem alot better now
