My flywheel is spinning on my GoTech (too much pinch in the motor) I can't get the clutchbell nut off to get to my flywheel and collet! What do I do? I don't have a piston locking tool.

take pipe off, put in big tie-wrap. this should allow you to lock the piston and unscrew the clutchbell screw

Hydro lock the piston. Not the best option but it works.

Pull the glow plug. Run the piston up a little past exhaust port. Fill combustion chamber with fuel, then reinstall glow plug. Be sure to set it up so the flywheel is locked the correct way.

if your motor has alot of pinch to where it locks up u can just use the pinch to hold the piston from going up and down, there is also a tool that my buddy has that you put into the back plate, it holds the rod so that it cant spin, or have someone put pressure down on the flywheel so that the flywheel will grip the collet as you unthread it

I had this exact same problem last Saturday. I learned the zip-tie piston lock method as well.

I had that happen to. Try heating the crank up with your heat gun. Then try to tighten the nut so that the flywheel is reseated. Hopefuly the collet will hold better. Then try to remove it.

An impact wrench would zip that nut right off even though its loose and spins, as it taps the socket (hence the impact name) but thats hardly practical for rc.

I vote for hydrolocking it. Use an old plug. And make sure you heat the crank up. If the flywheels allready lose, it shouldn't take too much more force to get it off.

Toss that collet.

Figures, the ONE part of this buggy I didn't take apart and rebuild when I bought it (used). I'm giving all the parts a good soak in brake cleaner to get all the oils and gunk off, gonna hit the collet and the collet inset on the flywheel with my steel brush dremel attachment to scuff it up a little and give it some bite and put it all back together.

You may also need a larger collet. Ive had problems with small collets that wouldnt properly lock the flywheel to the crank.

+1..They are not all the same! All collets do not work with all flywheels!
