This thread is giving me the itch to rebuild my 201. It's been sitting on a shelf since the last time TCS races had a class for them, 2006. I've been staring at a NIP Type A body that I've had sitting around for years trying to find the motivation to paint it too. I've got a bunch of Chevron parts for it (T camera, exhaust stacks, barge boards) and a Jaguar decal sheet that I got years ago from an F1 place in Hawaii.
It still may end up a shelf queen, but at least it will look good.

I am way to busy at work, and when I get a chance to race I have other classes that I can run, so I have decided that I could sell my Ferrari version F201. It's stock but it is in very nice shape. I never ran it after I purchased it from the previous owner who did run it once or twice. Let me know if someone is interested in buying it.
You guys are doing some amazing things with these custom builds. Keep it up and keep posting pictures!

If so: They look very equal, but are different. You won't be able to mount rear tires on front steering blocks. The rear ones will fit in front, but the steering geometry will be changed. The little arm where you attach the steering link to is placed different.

If so: They look very equal, but are different. You won't be able to mount rear tires on front steering blocks. The rear ones will fit in front, but the steering geometry will be changed. The little arm where you attach the steering link to is placed different.

modern f1 body shell fit/comparison
The best fitting modern bodies I've found are the FGX and Speed Passion(just arrived today!).
The Protoform and Tamiya F104, MP4/24 engine cover hoods are too short and acute in angle. FGX nose is quite long but the front wing is the most realistic being top mounted. Speed Passion has 4 different ones to choose from which is nice.
With a shortie pack, almost any F104 body will fit, except for F60 body is too narrow in the front.

I'm hoping to have my F201 ready within the next 2 weeks. I already have a full body to run on it initially (just to protect the arms on its maiden voyage) but I am wondering if the Tamiya Advan Courage body has the right wheel base to properly fit on the F201.
Does anyone know if this body will fit?

Courage body was on a F103Gt which wheelbase is 257 mm, too short.

After several months of building an F201 and combining several improvement that have been posted by others on this thread, my F201 made its debut for practice laps last week.
I had only intended to make a few low speed laps to get a general feel for the car but to my surprise, the car handled extremely well and was very controllable. My confidence grew every lap and before too long I was able to push the car as hard as possible and still feel totally in control. All in all I was pleasantly surprised by the performance of a multi-decade old chassis.
Pretty awesome car, too bad these went by the way side....

I will post pics across 2 different posts. Since I have started running my F201 during pre-race and post-race practice times, it has stirred up a lot of interest with folks to fire up our F1 class again. As a result, several folks are dusting off their old F1's and a couple folks have purchased new F1's. The F1 cars in general are some of the neatest looking cars out there.
As a result, I am going to see if anyone out there is interested in my F201. It has a lot of the standard hop ups along with some custom made parts from carbon fiber to allow modern shorty, low profile lipos. The car would come with everything in the pictures, RTR minus battery and receiver. There are enough spare parts to virtually build a second nearly stock F201. I also have 2 stock, painted and used F1 bodies along with an LM1 full body that is unpainted and fits the wheel base perfectly. PM me if you are interested.
