Nope, that's an IRL body for a pan car. I'm looking for a few to get some of my shelfer F201 replicas completed.

It's strange. As we all are well aware of, Tamiya discontinues EVERYTHING well before it's time, but with these gone, the only things that are difficult to find for it are bodies and wings.

I will be running or pulling bodies Sept 28th if not before.

We will have our F248 Body and our New F2008 that is made for the F103 but will also have a extra long low nose for the F201 and I might be working on a mold for the FW24 Williams Tamiya Body for people that want that stock look.

Thumbs up

Wow! That is seriously one of the coolest F201s I have ever seen. Can you elaborate a little on the "extra" bodywork and chassis extentions you have made to create a relatively current MP4-22?

Excellent build Cristian. Can you give a breakdown of what aftermarket parts are on there and what was done custom?

On a side note, does anyone know if the MLP bodies will be available soon?

Cristian,

Is that the Chevron 2008 body modified to fit the F201?

Thanks for the nice words guys.
The goal was for it to look like the current McLaren without having to purchase any 3rd part parts.
Their are too many chassis parts for me to remember and list whats on there, after hours of web research it took me about 3 to 4 months to find and collect all the parts from various web sites before I built, It consists of a 3racing chassis and parts, FMP ,Tobee Craft and Tamiya hop ups all in there. Alot was bought from Ebay but you have to be lucky.
I found some Muchmore ducts which I modified and places on either side, it was initially to hide all the electrics and wiring on the left side and added it to the right side (motor side) for looks and also for cooling as Ive added a couple of fans mounted in the duct facing the motors as they get hot in these cars.
I bought 1mm Carbon Fiber sheets and extended the sides of the base, the Carbon sheets was for the rear wing extension and diffuser as well. Ive put a red flashing LED attached to the back of the rear wing, looks crazy at night.

Now for the body, all of the added wings, barge board etc.. are made from the extra or cut off lexan from the shell (the Williams). I first made paper templates to make sure they fit then traced over and cut, some required heating with a heat gun to bend the plastic in shape, I even bent the front of the shell so the front dips down to the front wing.
The front wing has an extension on the bottom front made out of 2mm plastic to protect from head on's.
The camera on top I ripped off an old cheap F1 remote I had lying around.
Paint was Spastix mirror chrome backed with black and decals were printed on white and clear vinyl.
This is a nice car to drive, currently Im running a 27T motor in out club point score and Ive won the 5/5 races so far, the thing is a machine and with a little tinkering with the set up handles brilliantly. Knock on wood I havent crashed it yet.

Hope this helps, let me know if you want to know anything more.

Cristian.
Here is a clip of the F1 running a silver can motor.
