I think that your going to be very happy with the DM-I Spec.
Most of the parts are the same as the Jammin X-I off-roads.
As far as an engine for it. I think you could get a lot better
motor than the Axial for just a few more bucks. You can get
a .28 Jammin(Picco), LPR.28 and a few other better bang for
the buck engines for under $200.

The workmanship is very good. The car has very strong diffs , transmission etc in the dirvetrain. The suspension parts fit very well with very minimal play in the parts. The front and rear pivot ball uprights along with roll center adjustments should make dialing in the car easier than the Kyosho IGT models.
The chassis and body mounts are strong. You do not need hopups to race this car.
Search the boards and see for youself.

Nickd18, I want to apologize for my comment about the .28
Axial motor. I didn't ask if you already owned that motor. If
you do, go ahead and use it. It has plenty of torque and will
turn enough r.p.m.'s to put a smile on your face. I also forgot
to mention that the DM-1 Spec can be set up to run as a Dirt
Oval car too. So it doesn't have to run on the pavement all
the time. The DM-1 Spec is a strong car and will take some
punishment. Good luck and have some fun with it.

Ofna DM1 spec
When the DM1 first came out I said there is no way I would buy one of those big "boat anchors" as they call them at the track.
But when I saw how they ran when set up properly, I jumped in and bought the Spec version.
Being that I run all on road <10th and1/8th> I did not expect to much from a car this big and heavy.
I put in a Team Kamikaze modified Pico 21 and this thing is a blast. I have more fun driving this car than my other cars<and I have a lot of on-road>
Anyway, when set up right, a good motor and pipe, and the right tires you wont be dissapointed at all.
I do see some of the guys running 28 engines and off road engines, but the 21 on-road engines will out run them all day. Even though the 28s and off-road engines have more torque, the higher rpms of the on-road engine make the DM1 cars very quick, and turn about the same lap time as typical 10th scale

yeah i do own the axail motor.
that would be cool that i can have the option to set it up for dirt oval.
we have a local track for that. its cool that jammin parts will fit the dm1. i run the buggy version.
