Yeah...

Even with the remotes and such these are still "Budget" trucks.

hmm, tough call on that 1. all over the map. what do u want to do with it?

any local tracks around? what do they run? thought bout electric?

perhaps have u looked at the losi 8t RTR, they are runnin some clearance specials at amain for 500bux, RTR with a decent spektrum radio and great motor along w/the truck. so 500 and addin fuel and going. if u want to go the nitro route. that could get ya started. offerings from GS (the SUT) are also an option but u just see them less often than the losi. i'd take the GS over the losi but laying it out there. only thing i've never liked bout the losi is that u'll want to replace the servos and be very careful w/ur throttle linkages and how they are set.

good luck

Out of those, I would get the ST-1. Not only does it have a great easy to tune engine is the RB S7, but it also has a dx2.0 2.4ghz radio which if you would get the t-maxx would have to upgrade. Plus it is the most durable platform.

T-Maxx-Just throw that out! Many people have put thousands of dollars into T-Maxx's, that is how bad it is stock.

GT2-not a very good basher compared to the ST-1, more of a race platform.

i appreciate everyones input, but im still confused..lol. so many different answers.

ultegrasti - i'll be using it just at the park or around the neighborhood. possibly at the beach in the sand. just for fun, no tracks.

Chris_rc - i heard the st-1 is like a old r/c and the traxxas is a much newer better r/c. however ive also heard the st-1 is WAYY faster, is this true?

The st-1 is based on an older platform but in now way is traccas newer and better. The st1 is decent stock and tough as nails so i've heard + all those very good upgrades. That st-1 is actually a pretty nice truck. What I would do is say to the guy I will trade but you have to add some money. See if hes willing to add and if he's not just take the trade straight up.

now im starting to lean towards the st-1 just IN CASE i get in the mood for racing.

but even if not, it should perform just as well, if not better, than the traxxas off road right?

ESPECIALLY when ur new to nitro, let alone the hobby, u'd do well to avoid a 2spd transmission. 1 more needless set of headaches u'll avoid.

No questions better than the tmaxx. The only thing that the maxx has over the st-1 is the ground clearance and more parts being available but the ground clearance I think is offset by engine power and just the funness factor of the st-1. The st-1 should be faster, better handling, better jumping, Less money in the ling run, and just all around better. If what I hear about the st-1 being tuff is correct you really shoudn't have a problem with the parts availibility. Also amainhobbies.com has all the st-1 parts so you can easily get them off line. If you are getting one of those 3 get the st-1! Also about racing, trust me after about 1 month in the hobby you will want to atleast give it a try. It is an addictive hobby.

Parts availability would be the only concern on the ST-1, take that out and it's definitely the best of the bunch there. I would put the T-Maxx as a close second or maybe on top for a basher if you have a local hobby shop that stocks parts.

The T-Maxx is a very old rc. It started the MT craze, but there are far better MTs out there. The T-Maxx was released in 1997 so that is the soldlest one. The ST-1 is a little old, but still very capable.
