hey guys, whats up? first time poster here, anyways, i had an electric yokomo on-road back in 2000, i really love it back in the days, hell i even slept with it next to me every nite, thats how much i loved my yokomo hahah. sadly, i had to leave it behind when i went to australia for grad school...

what do i need to know to keep up with the current competition guys? i know theres a lot of you experts out there, so please help me, i'm rusty, lost, and really miss the vibe and pretty much everything about it somehow...

well not much has changed, well yes it has but you had the best car 9 years ago and its still the best.

Yokomo has a bunch of newer touring cars you can get, the BD which is their latest belt drive car, they have a few shaft drive cars as well.

But first you need to gather all your electronics, radio, servo, receiver, ESC, motor, and a battery pack with charger.

Alotta options mate, you gotta do research though. Check out the modern online hobby shops and ask around what your options are for all that.

But the most informative and best place to learn is the place your gonna race. See what kinda gear the fast guys have and ask them plenty of qquestions, leave wanting more.

go to the track you think you will spend the most time at. See what rides they stock for and what the fastest guys are driving.


Brushless/Lipo is the way to go. Don't skimp on the electronics:
Tekin RS is dominant
Thunder Power has sick 40C packs
Novak motors are hearty, fast and last

For a radio, you have to seriously consider the Futaba FAST system, but the pro dsm is ok and not too many people use crystals so you could be ok there. Do your research on radios, some of them are dealing with issues.
