48 pitch spur / pinion = ratio
64 pitch spur / pinion = ratio
They should come out the same
If I can't hold my finger on the can for 2 seconds, I need to gear down (smaller pinion), its too hot.
I know this is a battery forum sorry.

Yet another question
I am spending my time primarily on this site asking and learning... so to continue in that vein... her is yet another question. Does anyone here have the time or a link, to explain the process of assemblying cells into a pack? I know the basics, shoe goo 'em, solder tabs on, and apply wires... but I need an in depth breakdown. Down to what are the taps you need for the wires, is there a specific wire you need for the batteries (to connect a deans or to direct wire to the ESC and motor.). I need to know from start to finish what I will need. I have a GP3300 pack right now (6 cells), with solder tabs, and some battery connectors (these are like cylinders though, and I am not sure how these would be used as the wires were connected to the battery with a flat metal piece. (Of course these clyinder things could be used in a completely different way) I really know this seems extremely naive, but we all start somewhere... I guess I'm jsut too use to the assembled packs. Since I woudl like to start racing I decided I need to get better stuff.
Thanks for any and all help. You'll be helping to craft the next best driver out there. (joking)

Committed88,
Buy a deans battery jig. DO IT!! Take the cells and lightly scuff the pos. and neg. ends with fine sand paper. Do the same for the battery bars. Tin the cells at both ends lightly. Solder on the battery bars (pos.to neg.) and try to keep the amount of solder to a minimum. Use 12 or 14 gage silicon wire (wet noodle) and solder on the conectors you want to use or hard wire, if you want the lowest resistance. Two things to mention...NEVER OVER HEAT THE CELLS!!! And Orient the cell in your car loose before you start to solder so you know where the conector wires need to be soldered on. Or better yet, get PMR to do the assembling for you!! Good luck!! Read PMR's website...click my link!!

Promatch does a nice job.
If yo do them your self, you need a minimum of 60 watts for your solder pencil. Don't hold the tip on for more than a few seconds.
Again see their website for instructions.

Yeah these guys are right on.... I admire you want to learn to do it yourself, but I would as jjmudd said checkout PMR assembly it is excellent! It will not overheat the cells and the resistence in the connection is better than you can do with a Iron.
rctoyguy: see me Saturday once we are setup I have a chart to check your rollout if you want to do it.

Jay,
What time do you think the track will be ready?

Well it depends how many folks show to help set it up. If we get 2 or 3 to show up at 7:30 or 8:00 then we should be able to have it ready to go by 9:00. At the latest 9:30 I would think. I need to give you a motor of two to fix up for me also if you can. The start times will be the same as last time: signups close at noon and and racing at 2:30.
PS I need an application for Ozwald Motorsports,LOL See ya Saturday!

Special tire compound? I'm not touching that.
Jay- Thanks but no thanks.
Eddie - We cancelled it cause you couldn't make it. I don't think there will be a offroad race this year. Buy or borrow a sedan and come to the onroad race at the end of July.
