Ok, but I thought increasing the cutoff would make it peak even sooner and its already only registering 3100mah.

Increasing the peak detect will make the pack peak later. .03 v versus .05 volts not the other way around Say your peak voltage is 9.0 volts, it will shut off at 8.97 with .03 and 8.95 at .05. The .05 will increase the amount of charge you put into the pack plus bring the pack up to racing temps.

PS Boosting the charge isn't gonna solve your problem. The only option is the drop back(or cut off) voltage setting. Boosting the amps you are charging at will only give a slight increase in voltage and decrease the life of the cells.

If it will shut off at a lower voltage then how is it putting more charge into the battery? Bear with me, Im a nitro guy and this is my first electric experience. Is it that the voltage begins to drop as the pack reaches its peak? Is there a signifigant diffrence in the peak detect settings of the older GP3300s and the new short button GP3300s?

I wasnt expecting it to solve m problem, just wondering if it works well. I havent and wont use it now that I know it will decrease life.

Thanks for the help guys

Oh my at the confusion..... Set your charger to peak at the higher voltage.

I think he was trying to say if you have your setting at .03 and the pack peaks at 8.97......... set it to .05 and it will peak at 9.00 or higher. .05 will hold the peak longer than .03..... but keep a eye on the pack till you are sure it won't over charge your packs at that setting.

AE Racer,
Still kinda confusing. My understanding is this...When a pack has reached it's peak the voltage starts to drop off. With a peak detect set at .03, when the packs voltage drops that much (.03) the charger shuts off. Therefore, with a peak detect set at .05 the charger continues to charge until the pack has dropped .05 which takes longer than if the pack only dropped to .03 thus putting more charge into the pack which in turn will increase the heat in the pack. Ideally you want your packs to peak at 140 degrees but many factors will determine the cut off / peak detect voltage that you set your charger to. Where I race, the indoor facility that we use in the winter is exteamly cold, so I need to set my cut off a little higher than if I raced where the ambient temperature was 80 or better. Hope that helps.

That is correct jjmudd. The .5 cutoff holds the charge longer because it is waiting to see the voltage fall back more than with the .03 setting.

AE: Don't sweat it dude,we don't mind helping you out at all. That's what we have this for.

Is it ok to run a pack right after you take it off the charger at peak temp? Or should I let it cool down first? It seems like it would get dangerously hot while running if I ran it right off the charger.

It is always best to run the pack as soon as it peaks. Ideal situation is: battery peaks, gets put in car, car on track and race. If the pack peaks before you need to race, keep it in it's box or other storage area so that it can stay warm.

Ok, leets say the pack peaks but I still have 20 minutes until the race, would it be ok to repeak the pack after 10-15minutes? or would that be damaging to the cells?

Thanks for the help everyone.
