Default 17.5 BL motor gear ratios

Hi guys I'll be running a 17.5 Speed Passion motot in Stock but the suggested 4.6 - 6 gear ratio seems a bit slow?

Has anyone else got a suggested ratio I can start trying out??? I was thinking of about 3.5~3.7

Any suggestions???

Thanks. I'm runnig it in a TRF 415 MSX MRE and I'll be getting a 80T 64p Spur and using the 51T Tamiya 0.4 module pinion. Together I should make a 3.5 gear ratio and I've got a 83, 84 and 85T spur aswell so I should be able to gear it all the way from 3.53 - 3.75 and above...

Stupid question, but has anyone raced a BL 17.5 against a 27T brushed motor??? How did it do?

Not stupid at all. They can be very competitive, all else being equal. Some might say a well-looked-after 27T is faster, but it takes some work.

I run my SP 17.5 at 3.6 on decent-sized outdoor asphalt.

This might be a real stupid question!

Has anyone ever had this issue... Way back when I got my HPI Pro 4 I ran it at a 32mm roll out or something with a 96 spur and 36 pinion. That nearly fried my 27T motor... But when I changed the gears to something else - 82T spur and 31T pinion it ran like a dream?!?!?!

It might just be me??? Help

Hiya

I am running a 415msx with the stick pack chassis bulkheads and the upper deck so my lipo's will fit. Does any one know the part number for the stick pack chassis upper deck.
I cracked a standard one previously so I would like a spare for my pitbox just in case.

cheers

Dave
