Second question - from my understanding, when storing NiMh away, you should leave 30-50% of its charge. Yes, its fine to charge the batteries when they are 1/2 full. Most important thing to rememeber is to make sure they do not overheat. Once they are charged, they get hot (the Apex has a temperature cut off feature). - then again, the electric racers might add more to this....

Advanced fuzzy logic peak detector and Zero Delta Voltage automatically cuts off circuit with MOSFET. whatever that means
Pulsed current changes NICADS or NIMH to 100% without overcharging this is true, batteries seem to be lasting much longer before recharge
The new Zero Delta Voltage technology, charging 3000mAh NIMH never before using 6.5A, very high PUNCH. don't know, haven't charged 3000s yet
Cutoff as low as 45 degree C without temp. probe. cool feature
Digital display displays battery charging or discharging capacity in mAh, VOLT and AMPs.nice to have
8-bits 4MHz CPU with 8K ROM 1K RAM 1 channel 16 bit ADC DSP for LPF and 8-bit PWM current control output. more powerful then a P4
Auto detection of number of cells of the Nicad battery. yes
Dual peak detection operation with charging state and charging time display. ?
Reverse polarity protected. yes
Recharge 4-7 cells on 12V car battery of power supply. had to replace my real car battery after the whole club trued there tyres off it
Output current can be changed from 0.5A to 6.5A. abit of an overkill for nitro purposes don't you think?
Discharge current is approx. 2A or 10A little switch on the back to change between the two, I use 2Amp discharge on my NiCd, and have a seperate discharge for my NiMh
Built-in twin cooling fan. incase its a hot day, sit behind it
AC 220V or 110V input use APEX Switching Power Supply V12 (option part). take it with you on your honeymoon

NiMh should not be stored discharged. You can charge them any time you want. Nicads should be discharged to about .9v per cell. For RX packs go with NiMh because they have higher capacity. Don't let NiMh get hot when charging. If you can't get the Apex in the states, look at Integy as they have a similar if not the same model. As for what I use, an Integy 16x5 with a 14A power supply from Eagle racing, came as a set.
