Tamiya TRF415
Evening all,
Does anyone know the length of driveshaft that the LW suspension uses? I'm looking at getting the TA04 LW suspension kit and fitting it to the 415, but it comes with 42mm shafts, and I'm not sure whether these will fit.
Also, does anyone have a part number for the shims that will be needed to go on the inner hinge pins? (its a std 415).
Cheers
Dan Chambers

Hey KilRuf & EJ, thanks for the info...it helped. I had a great day of racing...any day racing is great. Check out the changes I incorporated. Car was smooth and maybe a little too precise.
The car did develop a bunch of slop throughout the suspension (arms, hubs, carriers, steering, etc.). Besides shimming everything, is there something I can do to keep this to a minimum?
Carl, build your MSX...you'll throw that T2 out.

anyone know any other branded front CVA's that would fit on the MS?
the cva's are really driving me crazy, it just chatters so much when turning. new pins and everything and still chatters.
also on the rear with the blue lightweight cva's, they seem to wear out where quite quick, and then has lots of slack

sohlman, sounds good. I'll get to test out my R2 again this weekend and then head out to the Birds. So hopefully I'll get somethings figured out on it. I just can't wait to get this thing on asphalt!! But til then.....

Got my first win with the Msx yesterday
I was actually struggling a little bit for corner speed, there were 2 or 3 guys that were definately quicker thru some parts of the track, and others where my car was very good, especially turning in to the hairpins.
I have found it difficult to adapt to the double one-ways (my previous car had a diff), not because there's too much turn in (I like that ) it's just that I've found other drivers tend to leave a gap on the inside going into tight corners and I find that as I get down the inside they come across and try and close the gap and sometimes we get tangled up. I think that maybe they believe that I can't possibly get down the inside and they're under-estimating the turn-in of the car.
Anyway, after the final I had a practise run with much stiffer springs and I was amazed at how much better the car was. This track is considered very low grip so I was impressed at how much more corner speed the car had with this setup

The swing shafts Q has been answered already (you'll need the 46mm ones )
When I ran that car with the LWT I had for the inner piviots,
Front; 2mm in front of the arm, 6mm behind
Rear; 5mm in front of the arm, 3mm behind.
You might need to sand the arms a little to get them to fit though.
However the MSX kit instructions use a slightly different wheelbase, so you could also try
Front; 1mm in front, 6.5mm behind
Rear; 5mm in front, 2.5mm behind
This should fit with minimum shimming.

It seems that most people seem to favour the std arms when running foams, specially on carpet tracks? Does this sound right? What parts do I need to convert the Refine 2 to use the std arms - just the arms thmeselves? Part numbers would be great. Thanks.

Vincent,
I have tested some with both suspensions and I have found that the "Old" suspension works best for carpet w/rubber tires and the LW Suspension works better with foams.
The LW Suspension will free up the car when traction is high, but will not be as good when traction is low!!
For asphalt the LW is also better!!
Hope this helps!!

I was wondering how to use foam tires on the TRF415MSX. Is there any mods that I need to do?
anyone tried to fit/use the TA05 white diff pullies on there 415? it would lower the final drive to 2.25ish which may be better for modified
