Tons more room with the Pro4 knuckle

I have found out a few more things now that I have been messing around with the HPI/Tamiya parts

This is all that is needed for the conversion now(revison #1)
Pro4 front knuckle set
Four 1050 bearings
Two (new style) Pro4 Axles( not MIP style )


and thats it you can use the EVO4 dog bones with the New HPI Axle
makes the conversion easy

Hey Dave do you ever run foams on your car? How did you get away from the tires hitting the front kingpin ball cup? I know you have an EVO4 and that would also seem to have that problem.

Dave, what about the .5mm shim for the conversion? I tried a .7mm shim on mine and it worked great. Well Gee... I guess I'll have to go out and find the new axles. Wonder why they switched from MIP?

Like Dave said.. the Pro4 knuckles has tons of clearance for 28mm foam tires. I'm not sure... but I may have been using the 6mm wheel hex as well....

Case by case for the shim...5~.7mm seems about right
as for Non MIP bone.... it just made the conversion cost less

Ah man, that really wasn't a secret. I don't know the part numbers of if they'll make it to production but if you look closely at one of the pictures at Jpilone's site from the race in Florida, you can see the blue aluminum on one of the Evo4's

I've been having problems finding parts # for springs.Can anyone post a complete listing of all available springs and their parts # for the regular length springs? I have the #'s for the newer short springs.

Also, are the regular springs available in pairs or kits?

I know The TRF415 comes with the regular yellow which are about 13lb/in accrording to a nice spring chart someone kindly posted somewhere in these pages. I want to go up in stiffness just a little all around...maybe to about 14 or 14.5 or 15lb/in.

help on this matter would be much appreciated.

There are only 3 tracks in Japan that have Carpet... and most of the asphalt tracks that are indoor will not allow Foams on TC's but that hasn"t stopped me from using them in practice.. ... just make sure that you use the 6mm hex hub.

The part number for the spring set is 53440. Comes with Red, Yellow, Blue, and White in pairs. You'll need 2 sets to do both front and rear. Yellows are probably the best spring of choice though for asphalt. Unless if you like AE springs...

Thanks Dave. I'm picking up my buddies 415 tommorrow to try out at a race or two. I will have to order some 6mm hexes. You don't happen to know a part number? If not it isno biggie as I will track it down.
