well.... I haven;t really done a back to back with the MRE and Evo yet... and I'll admit it has been a bit of struggle to get a good setup on the evo (not helped by the appaling luck I seem to be having at the moment, although some is self inflicted...) But it's getting there.... Still I always like to be a little different

Probably doesn't help answer your question though..

HELP NEEDED

Hey guy's I've been trying hard... (Pardon the pun tryhard) to get a good carpet/rubber tire set up for my MRE.

The rear end of the car keeps kicking out - on power out of the corner.

I'm running New CS27's. 33# front spring/ 14# rear, 50wt front oil & 30wt rear.

Any assistance or setup's would be appreciated.

THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!

i havent even got the car yet but thought id have a go lol
adjust throttle curve on transmitter ?
tighten front diff slightly? if not running a diff oh well!
have you worked on the droop settings?

not sure about this answer but the way i see it is that the thicker oil in the front shocks is going to slow down the transfer of weight back to the rear of the car.. slightly ......?? .....try having the same 30wt oil up front too.

in no words do i claim to be right im just putting some ideas forward

does none of the tamiya drivers come on here to help with these matters?

and maybe you should put your current set up down on here.
then the more experienced guys on here could see more of the picture.

MRE Titanium screws/Spool/ fixed centre
MSXX Steel screws/air scoop( very cool) one way centre and one way front
And more things.
I would go the MRE because of the collectable value and by the air scoop later.
Just an idea, as it seem's everyone think's this is the best thing to do.

Thanks .... I'll search this thread then..
Thanks for the info, mate ...

Cheers.

You could try lengthening the rear wheelbase to help with the over steer problem

The car is not tranfering enough weight to the rear tires when you are on power so there are several adjustments you can use to correct this problem. That's the beauty of the MRE, lots of options to fix this problem.
Softer springs in the rear, lay down the rear shocks, stiffen the front shocks, stand up the front shocks.
Increase rear toe, increase camber in the rear
increase the droop in the front, decrease the droop in the rear. Remove shims under the blocks if you have any in the rear.
The options go on and on. I haven't even touched on tires an inserts.
The trick is to make one change at a time!
Just my 2$

Your front springs are way to hard compared to the rear springs!!
I am sure your car dump's the rear end inn the midle of the corner and then you loose traction....

Try soften your front end, normally we run the Blue Tamiya springs in the rear and the White ones up front.
Remember to drive smooth and keep the car rolling in the turns to get the corner speed up!

Good Luck mate,

what are the advantages/disadvantages between the 415MSX and the MRE/MSXX?

The advantages from the MRE over the MSX is: the center pulley system. Instead of adjusting 3 set screws, Tamiya came up with a single unit where the center pullies and the spur gear are one unit now. It never has to be adjusted. Real nice. The steering rack is different. Much better and has more steering than the previous rack. The set-up out of the box with MRE is much better than MSX. The way it's shimmed with camber links, wheelbase and toe blocks should get you very close to "dialed" on any ashpalt track out there.

The one flaw with MRE, I believe is the top deck. Get's "tweaked" very easily if you hit a board or something. You have to loosen the top screws and re-adjust the car on tweak station after every run or so. Not that big of a deal, kinda gets you in a good habit anyways lol... I'm not sure if Tamiya adressed this with the MSXX. The top deck needs to be held down with a couple more screws to make it more stable and less flimsy.

Other than that, the MRE is easily one of the best sedans on the market for ashpalt or carpet.
