Best RTR 1/8 Buggy???
I searched in the forum for this topic but found info that was 3 years old. If I missed the thread please post me a link.
I am looking to race into 1/8 scale next spring. I want to go electric, but due to my budget and the Latest ROAR rules (10 min mains) I am going nitro.
I would like to start out with a car that would need the least amount of modifications to be competitive. My max budget is $600.00 and that will have to cover all but fuel.
I am looking at the RC8RS and Losi 8ight RTR.
Any suggestions out there? Other brands I should look at (Hyper, Kyosho, ...)
Please feel free to back up what you think is best, I need to learn.
OR
Buy used? What any why?
I do have a radio and receiver if needed.
Thanks,
E
PS: I am a mid pack crasher in 4 mod right now. I have come a long way, but have a ways to go.

if you go used you could go brushless lipo fairly cheap.
Used 8ight 1.0 $200.00
Servo $75.00
team losi conversion $80.00
MMM/2200kv combo $280.00
2 Zippy Lipos 5000mah 4s $200.00
$835.00
With an RTR that will be nitro to start with you will be spending alot of extra money on something that you will be throwing away later.
you might be able to find an "E" roller cheap also.

this was sold for $240.00 looked like a good deal. The RCPD stuff is quality.
good luck

Caster Racing.
Both electric and nitro versions and a conversion to electric kit that is about $100 for a chassis plate and all the electric parts....

Just wondering why are you considering a RTR if you already have a radio system? Is your Tx really old or something, or you just think it would be nice to have a new radio?

2nd reason I only have gift cards, not cash to use. So I can only buy through stores or maybe through paypal. This makes buying used dificult.
3rd reason I can sell the radio out of the rtr kit to help pay for spare parts and upgrades.

go losi, especially because the dsm radio out of the 8ight rtr kit will fetch you far more than some am/fm cheapo radio that would come with other rtrs. there are a million other reasons to go losi but this pirticular one applies to your last post

If you want electric get electric. Caster Racing has an RTR electric buggy all you need is batteries and radio I belive. Or they have a Sport roller, or the have a pro kit all E versions built from the ground up for brushless and lipo. The RTR has a Brushless motor and speed controller installed. Look up the Jan 09 issue of Driverpage 166 and they review the Fusion EX-1 sport roller. They have really nice quality RTR nitro's too. They come with GO .21 engines, Just go to CasterRacingUSA.com

I appreciate the input so far.
No one has really said anything about the cars, beside losi has dsm and a good engine.
I have read the reviews on Caster and think they would be a good option, but on the electic side the mains are to short. This is sad becouse I already have 3 maxamp 6000 mah 2 cells for my zx5.
I would like more comments! Anyone have any rtr's out there?
