1/12 scale as far as I know are not running Lipo's yet. Unless they have been approved for that class?

I dont care if it goes to 6 mins.... IF.... it doesnt drag out the race day even more.
If you have a club race with 12 heats that would add about a hour to the race day. If the track cut down the time between races to compensate then I am all for the 6 min races.
I never complained about how much track time we get... but I do complain about all the time I have to kill waiting to race and going 6 mins will probably just add to it.

True, but we used to run 8 minutes with 1200 mah batteries.

Nice to see ROAR adjusting to the technology.....

I'm wondering how this will affect the 5 cell mod????

Will this make it more important to get larger capacity (5000+) packs? Is it the final nail in the coffin for NiMH?

5 cell mod isn't a ROAR class.

I would agree that I would like to see the min weight adjusted as well, I'd like to get less wear out of foams in 13.5.

Depends on which class you race in but for the most part 3800 Lipo will give you 6 minutes in almost all classes. We just tried the 6 minute qual and mains in Super Stock (13.5 BL or 19T B) and there was no problems making run time. I had 63% capacity left in my IB3800 at the end of 6 minutes plus a few hot laps using a Novak SS 13.5, Tekin RS geared to a 4.5 FDR.

1/12 scale is unaffected by this since they run 8 minutes and USVTA is separate from ROAR.

Great, unless you're the one being run down!!

I ran two 5-minute races back-to-back yesterday, as I won the B Main and the A was the next race. I didn't swap batteries or charge -- just gridded back up and went. I run 13.5 touring car with a well-used Orion 3600 lipo, and after 10 minutes of hard racing it still read 7.45V and had plenty of punch. Finished 7th. I don't think 6 minutes is anything to be afraid of with most lipos.

Fl. State electric series went to 6 min. qualifiers and mains over 2 years ago. we have had no problems with this format. 12th scale is still an 8 min race. Mod is 5 mins. but run with the Ready Format.

TC weight was dropped to 51oz this year as well. This was done by the state series and is being used as the weights at the birds and Minnreg. Again we have had no problems with the lighter cars..

Dawn your on the right track. Keep up the good work.

Yeah, a lower minimum weight would be great to tackle next. I have so much lead in my lipo touring car to get it to 1525g that if I crashed bad enough it would be a Superfund site.

Now lets just bring down the weight rule to 1400g.

My track has been running 5 minute Quals and 8 minute mains for over a year now in our 10.5 class. We had a resurgence in electric TC lately and mainly because of lipo/brushless. Now lets handle the weight issue.

Thank you Roar!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
