So... for my second year of VTA should I step up and buy a minty A700 for $290 or play it safe and get a Tamiya TA07 Pro for $250? Parts support? Ease of tuning? Speeeeeed?

Get the A700. Super free drive train. Lots of fun learning the car setup but once you do the car is amazing. Very little ever breaks on the car for me but rather pop off and can be poped back on.

Chalk and Cheese mate. Like comparing a Kia to a Porsche.

Buy the A700 dismantle it completely and rebuild it from scratch, this is essential to get to know the car, don't think you can wing it, it doesn't work. But once you get your head around it and dial it in, the rewards will come.

I just ran a major event in 21.5 blinky against guys who have state titles etc under their belt running T4 16's and the latest Fantom motors, and lapped the whole field with my A700

Couldn't do that with a Tamiya

Ha! Thanks for the input, fellas. I have no doubt that the car is pure genius, I am really just not at that level yet. I only started racing last year and I was DFL every race. I was constantly being marshalled. I had to figure out what to do with all that lipo/brushless power!

I am now in my second year of summer buggy racing and things are going a lot better. I can do a whole race with out being marshalled and I even got 3rd once from 8th on the grid by staying cool through the first lap mayhem and then not crashing for the rest of the race.

Anyway, for the upcoming 2nd year of winter VTA racing I am going to concentrate on the fundamentals with equipment that other people at the track, who have great patience with me, can help me tune.

Perhaps next year I will be back in this forum as I prepare for year 3!

Thanks!

Evo ii question here. I just have taken the car to the track and notice when starting from stitting still there is a slight grinding noise. The noise goes away instantly and once the car is rolling the noise stays gone. I am assuming this is just the gears messing on initial startup but wanted to ask about it.

Thanks

I'd guess that the o ring (or05) is worn and/or you're overfilling the oil. See the link below, I've haven't tried this as I never experienced this problem. The best solution is to covert to st23 and st26, see page 40 of the manual

Hey all i bought a used Awesomatix. and oh boy do i need some help I am trying tis upload a picture, and hopefully i am successful

I have been trying to set up the car, and my simple question is. What does the different links do ? I am used to the traditionally links that adjust the camber of the car. But here we have 4 of them that confuses me hehe. I know you guys are very good at this, so it is better for me to ask for some help explain all this to me then to get frustrated
Also, this little damper measuring tool, what should one use ?

( i run stock 13.5 turn )

many many thanks for your answers and greetings from norway

Read this: pg. 22,29, and 30. You will need set of Caster Doodles to accurately set caster angle or use the measurements on pg 22 to get you close.

The best thing you can do is completely dismantle the car and rebuild it from scratch, it will give you a far better understanding on what does what where when and how than any web tutorial on camber / caster etc

Awesomatix USA will be in full force at IIC.. If you think you will need any shaft car specific parts, get in touch with Hanulec so he can bring them

Thanks, AMX USA didn't have what I needed so I ordered from Awesomatix overseas. Ordered last week, requested EMS, and they just shipped it out. Hope I get the parts in time. I'll get in touch with Hanulec next week.
