ok i have cut one out before but didnt work out the greatest i heard something about a sharpie trick am i right on this ?? if i am please let me know how i do it thanks

Mount and cut before it is painted is the best. Use and X-Acto and circle cutter, then use curved scissors to clean up and rounding edges.

Once you have the body mounted and the car all setup; droop, rideheight, etc; and ready to race place the car on a flat surface. You need to have the shell trimmed so that the bottom of the shell is just touching the flat surface now. Place a sharpie on the surface and mark a line all around the bottom of the shell. Cut and voila you have a shell that is perfect for your ride height.

I trim the bottom of the body first, cut out the front wheel wells. Then I use black butale rubber(rubber sealer< ie the backing on Dynamat Extreme, sound deadner), make 4 little balls put them on the body post, place the body over the posts and square the body up over the car lining up the front wheels. The rubber will either stick to the body or leave makes on the body so that I know where the drill the post holes. After drilling out the post holes, I set the the body at its running height get an old rubber wheel & tire and mark the rear wheel well openings. Last step after cutting is the final trim for asphalt or carpet racing.

Here's another tip/trick with the LEXAN body

After you mark the trim line with the sharpie, you don't have to try to follow the line with scissors, use a ruler along that line....and simply score it with a razor or exacto.

Then just bend/fold the lexan along the score line and it snaps off in a perfect straight line.

- Trim lower edges of CLEAR body to molded line
- square up over chassis and mark outside where the body posts touch
- drill body post holes and antenna hole
- set body height on chassis via snap pins
- line up extra wheel/tire on outside of body with the wheel/tire on chassis and trace with sharpie
- Repeat for all 4 tires
- cut out fenders
- mask & paint

I will drill body post holes prior to painting, but don't cut any of the lower trim lines or wheel wells or anything, just the body post holes.

Paint, but leave a small square or whatever shape in the wheel well opening (much smaller than the wheel well (probably 3/8" or more). If you use someone else to paint, just ask, pretty simple for most painters to do.

After paint, sit the body on the chassis, and trim the lower part of the body until you can sit the car on the tires at ride height with the body on. Then trim the wheel wells (you can see center of the wheel with the "window" created before.

Then mark the sides with sharpie trick, and trim the sides with ruler and #11 hobby knife.

Trim front and rear with curved scissors, wheel wells with circle cutter, and use a dremel with sanding wheel to clean up...

I cut, drill and fit my bodies totally as if it were ready to run on the track before I paint. It saves alot of paint from being waisted on lexan that will be discarded...

I used to mark with a sharpie,the antenna hole,body post holes,wheel centers.Then cut fenders with curved scissors,body with scissors & exacto.Mask open holes(years prior to overspray protective stuff)then ready for paint.Then finish fender openings with a drum sander.Done.
