Hi,
I'm a newbie to EP.
Which is better,
Orion 3800 30C
or
Orion 4000 25C
Would I be right in saying the 3800 has slightly less capacity but more kick than the 4000.
I've seen mention of Deans connectors (with SMC batteries), is there any advantage/disadvantage to using these?
I'm waiting to get a S400 I purchased. Any idea whats the MAX height available for a LIPO. I seen 23mm mentioned, the Orion 3800 is 23.5mm, would I get away with it?

Just on the Deans connectors..
It is interesting to note that AFAIK the Deans connectors are only rated for 50A continuous, yet they're being put on packs capable of delivering twice that. There's gotta be some loss there surely?
When you're talking Corally tubes, figures I have seen are 200A continuous, which exceeds the majority of lipos out there.
My vote definately goes to packs like the Orion, Intellect, LRP, TrakPower packs with the Corally tubes built into the packs. I also dont like the look of the leads hanging off the packs either
There's an advantage to the Deans connectors on the packs... some chassis the tubes would be under the top deck and hence you'd be unable to plug in the leads to the ESC. You'd have a definate need for a lipo tray IMHO in that situation. With the leads, you could avoid using the tray and save some dollars at the expense of having to add more weight on the battery side than you would with a lipo tray).

the 4000 will give you that extra bit of voltage at the end. 14 amps between the two is really a minuscule difference.
besides.. the 3800 has to work harder to maintain the same performance as the 4000.
If your setup uses less than 100 amps, then it makes no sense to go with a higher C rating.
Lipos these days have more going for it than just a C rating.
