I'm trying to gear my 009 to a high bite med asphalt track running 17.5 Trinity with an SPX. I'm currently using a 112 with a 44 pinion with a FD of 4.33 using gearchart.com. Is this right? Can I gear down anymore. It seems that my meshing is real tight with the big pinion and can't seem to fit anymore. Is my Final Drive correct? Any suggestions?

Hi MACH55
I did a few mods to 96T 64P spur to get it to fit. You need to cut a few slots in the outer face so you get a driver to the rear motor screw.
This allows me to run from a 30T-42T pinion. This works out to be from mid 5s to high 3s for the FDR. You should find something in there that will work for the 17.5.
The spur was an AE one. The center hub was the correct thickness so it fits on the 009 center shaft without any mods.

for 17.5 try using a 100, 102, or a 104 tooth spur gear

with a spx on profile 7 you want to be geared in the high 3's

Problem is I can't seem to get it to fit without the meshing being real tight. Do I have to mod the bulkhead to get the correct gearing to fit? Is that the only way? If I put a 100 spur gear with a 44 will bring me down to sub 3's for Final drive but will it fit? Need some suggestions so I don't have to drill.

Thanks in advance!

Why dont you just switch to 64p gears? Youll have alot more room and your car will be quieter...

I'm just running 17.5 with an LRP SPX, I'm looking at sub 4's or what is the norm for med size indoor asphalt. Currently I'm at 4.33 should I be lower than this for 17.5 FD?

Thanks

I have no idea i dont run asphault, only carpet. What are you temping at after 6 min? It seems like being in the 3's would burn up your motor.

For a 17.5 you should be running a 3.8.

Indoor asphalt, 17.5 w/ SPX on profile 7-8 you should be between 4.1-4.8. I run this same set-up, and from what I can tell, possibly the same track (The C).

Hey what's up yeah I run at the "C", just started a few weeks ago. It doesn't look like my 009 has anymore room to go down from 4.33. My best time for the new config track at the "C" was about 12.3. Motor was warmer than usual but I didn't temp. Any advice?

For 17.5 you should run a 104 spur gear. I run at "The C". SPX speedo FDR should be around 4.4 to 4.8 on this current layout.
