Have you seen the pics on Red RC of Hara's car, there seems to be a hell of a gap between the shock collar and the top of the shock (a lot of thread showing) is it because he has longer shock shafts? different shocks altogether? also it shows that he has around a 1mm of Ackerman, whereas normally we run 4mm. Any thoughts on these items

longer shock shafts won't change that... however shorter srpings would... possible he's not using HPI springs (Xrays or Corrallys maybe?)... then again, how long are the Hara Springs
EDIT - Actually, on second thoughts, they look like Silvers and blues... but being run very much leaned in (hole 1 by the look of it), which could explain the extra distance on the collars. And don't forget, he's running at 6cell weight now...

I don't know why such a gap in the shock collars, but i've noticed that is using the WCE bulkheads and maybe the WCE shock towers that will give a big difference. Just a guess.
Regarding ackerman i think it's because of the high grip there, he do it also on reedy race using 2mm.

The only reason is the one that ed pointed out. The shocks are leaned in a lot and the holes on the shock tower are following a radius that is a lot bigger then the shock's length, that's it.

Hara is completely leaning his front shocks while hirosaka makes it the opposite way (max vertical)? Any explanation?

But what if I like Blondes and brunette's....and you forgot about redheads, I'm not fussy
Setups are sometimes a 'personnel preference' thing, remember, you don't know how they have other aspects of their cars setup which may make the effect of the shock position less pronounced than your thinking.
